Fun to drive! Lots of power. Take care of it, and it won't let you down! Hard on gas (as a daily driver), but worth it! Perfect for snowy conditions! This one is highly recommended, ...if you can get one! Go for it!!!Jun 10, 2014

This SUV has been running strong for over 10 years in my family with minimal problems. With proper maintenance and upkeep, it will keep on running for a long time. This is when they built cars to last. The Eddie Bauer edition includes the leather seats and the more powerful engine which is a huge plus.Jul 31, 2013

This full size SUV has been decent for our family for the past six months. However, it has poor gas mileage with the 5.4L V8 engine and it's hard to maneuver in tight spaces and parking lots sometimes due to it's size. Overall it has been a nice vehicle although it has poor gas mileage.Jan 19, 2013

We love this vehicle, and feel totally spoiled by its comfort, particularly on long trips. Reaches highway speed effortlessly and quietly. We have never needed a major repair, and it is at 166K; mechanic says the Triton engine is one of the best models ever made and it should go much, much farther without needing anything but routine maintenance. By driving it smoothly I routinely get 14.5 mpg in the city, 14.5 to 15 highway, even when driving 70-75 mpg. Superior in so many ways we are afraid to ever sell it, for fear we won't find another vehicle built so well! Absolutely recommend this vehicle for dependability, power and comfort.Oct 03, 2012

I love this car. Its old, but still looks good. In 12 years, I have only had minor repairs to be done. Major repair included a leaking oil pan and something else was leaking near the transmission that I had to have fixed, which they needed to take out the transmission to get to.Jul 07, 2012

I've had this Expedition since it was new (1997) and it has been a good vehicle although it has been relegated to winter/towing/special uses in favor of a more fuel efficient car. With 103,000 miles on it right now (Jan. 2014), it will remain in my stable of autos, as, when it's cleaned up and polished, still looks like new, and still drives well. In essence, whenever I need 4WD in the future, my Expedition will be there !!Feb 12, 2012

Fantastic Ford SUV built solid, yet with extreme comfort. Air ride suspension makes this truck feel like a passenger car. Very nice condition inside and out. Seating capacity for eight comfortable passengers. Triton 4.6L V-8 engine, 2 wheel drive, and many extra features!Mar 14, 2011

Best vehicle I've ever owned. Outstanding reliabilty and performance. With today's higher gas prices it has become less economical to drive. It can handle all the needs of a family. Hauls the family, appliances, boats and pets effortlessly. Great vehicle for the money.Feb 04, 2011

Came from a Toyota Corolla of 11 years. Bought
her used for $3,800 and she is in excellent
interior and
exterior condition. I enjoy driving her in the
Minnesota snow storms, but did manage to make
it through the winter seasons and all the
neighborhood hockey kids with my Toyota.
Disappointed that I have some many problems and
I just bought the truck used 2 weeks ago.
Replaced starter, need to replace spark plug,
need to replace serpenting belt, heat does not

This was probably one of the most costly vehicles for me to own. It spent allot of time in the shop being fixed. Transmission work 5 times, radiator, alternator, many sets of brakes, suspension problems every year, starter, had to replaced driver and passenger windows due to clips on glass falling off. I am not a anti-Ford guy but a anti-expedition that I owned guy.
Ford is making some great vehicles - I have just found better service out of Toyota trucks lately and better prices. If when I need to replace my current Tundra - I will look again at Ford Trucks.May 06, 2010

had to have extensive front end repair at 100,000 mi. no squeeks or rattles. good solid car, fun to drive. paint on dash cover is flaking a bit. lots of gadgets and accessories and they all seem to work fine. city driving gas mpg is 12.5 give or take.Feb 21, 2010

Had this old boy going on 9 years now and i have waited that long to write a review. You dont know a car from a month of driving it. That being said while it does drink a bit of gas this vehicle is wonderful. We have put 267,000 miles on our with no problems.Feb 08, 2010

great car on the road or in out road the only bad thing in it that its a rear wheel drive not a four whell drive but it realy fun to drive and it has thing that the new models dont have its like 2005 or 2007 Jan 20, 2010

WEll the Car it self is fine. Handles well drives even better. The only thing that killed me is that the water pump had to be replaced a couple of times. But all in all the car is wonderful to me.Nov 13, 2009

it's a little slow on the uptake, could shift gears faster, brakes could be tightened, pretty much have to hit the floor before it'll stop, handling is decent, but with a high center of gravity, turns need to be controlled, brakes are really squeaky, appearance is very nice, very comfortable too, which i like, gas mileage could be better, but i'm not complaining, maintenance... well, it's a ten year old car, i'm happy with how it does.Sep 25, 2009

My ford expedition is awesome and there are no negatives. It drives so smooth and its fun to drive it. Gas of course cost alot but it doesnt waste too much gas if i drive it on the high way.Jul 20, 2009

The only problems that really come up at all are the gas mileage (12-13) and for some reason most Expeditions have electrical issues with the drivers door. When you shut the door sometimes it doesn't register that it is shut, but other then that nothin. It pulls everything I need it to and you can hardly feel it. I love it.Jan 14, 2009

OIL FILTER is in a REALLY bad place! Thanks FORD
Hit a deer in one make sure you hit it on passenger side- or you could take out the oil filter and be left with a blown engine! and the bumper SHOULD be built better! It lays right back behind the tire when you hit a deer, so it takes out your tire when it takes out the engine from the oil filter having a hole in it!
Otherwise it is an awesome truck! Almost 300,000 miles and still going strong!

The only downside was the gas mileage, however if I had invested in the modification chip that would have been better. It was fun to drive, I liked the fact that I was higher than most cars so the only people that could look in the window while driving were semi drivers. I never had to worry about getting stuck due to the fact if I did get stuck all I had to do was turn the dial to which 4wd I was either AWD or 4WD high or low, I loved the simplicity. Dec 18, 2008

It's a beast? Yeah. Great turn radius, good handling,
accelerations not too bad for an SUV of its age and the
5.4L v8 isn't too bad. Sounds really nice up in the
3500-4500 rpm range but it's not great on gas. I get
about 15mpg on average and thats mostly highway.
But all around, it's quite nice for a 16 year old's first

Great performer for a 5500+ lb SUV. Gas mileage is low, but understandable considering it was manufactured in 1998 when gas prices were extremelly low and fossil fuel shortage wasn't a concern. Has huge cargo space. Carries my subs and looks stunning if taken care of.Apr 24, 2008

Typical Ford suspension... Hauls more than it's supposed to. Then the truck can me made family friendly, mildly 4wheeled in the hills and versatile in almost any situation. If you own one, or perhaps the pick-up version, all of your Toyota, Nissan owning friends will want to borrow it when somthing big has to be hauledApr 11, 2008

perfect all round unit..5.4 has all the power needed we pulled a box trailer with 2 motorcycles,tools,luggage,beverages,etc from mi to sc
with 5 adults 2 dogs. no problems in mts even with the air on full blast...it isnt worth spit in snow in 2whl,but flip it to 4whl and its a whole different animal.it turns on a dime and easy to park. stock sound sys rocks too. for aheavy weight it does pretty good on gas too. after 125k miles cant omplain,except for a miss i cant find
