1996 Toyota Land Cruiser Reviews, Pricing & Specs
What owners say
"Overall, owners of the 1996 Toyota Land Cruiser appreciate its off-road capabilities, spacious interior, and solid performance despite some issues with acceleration and fuel economy. Many drivers highlight the vehicle's comfort and reliability, though some note its slower acceleration and large turning radius as drawbacks."
This particular model, equipped with the turbo diesel, can be expected to run into the typical issues associated with aging turbo technology. Also, seen by many in the off-road community as less capable than its Land Cruiser twin. All told, still a fantastic vehicle for the casual off-roader who appreciates the uniqueness of this nostalgic 90s overland vehicle.
May 24, 2022I have come to love this car as I would a child. Don't talk about performance. Horrible acceleration, zero roadholding but, my God, what a great sense of warmth and security. This car has been all over Thailand, into the jungle, through Bangkok floods and nothing has ever stopped it. Except for the replacement of some parts, it has been like a tank. Love, love, love.
September 18, 2009My kids have loved being in this truck as well. Its comfortable for them. there is a large sunroof, which makes for nice summer drives with all the windows down. We like to take it up to the mountains and off road it sometimes as well..

June 5, 2013Engine is powerful and 4WD capability allows it to go anywhere! Acceleration is limited - big SUV, cost is reasonable! great to take out to the country and rough roads. The land cruiser is big! It says - "Get out of my way"!
September 11, 2009Handles wonderfully,Solid, roomy, safe,engine performance is excellent
April 21, 2008Poor acceleration, bad gas mileage, slow even at high speeds, large turning radius, however the SUV handles holes in the road far better than other SUV's in the range as well as compact cars. It did however beat an old Infiniti on the LIE once.
