poor acceleration of the line, but rides decent at 70 mph. decent handling even when you power into the corners. the 2.0L engine could use a few more horsepower, and maybe more torque. decent interior space for a small carAug 20, 2012

Bought this vehicle when I lived in Kansas City so my wie could have a better car to drive. It was fuel efficient, was comfortable, but became crampt for longer trips. What I did like about this vehicle is that we walked away from a 80 mph hit from a drunk driver. The unitized build literally save our lives. The car was as slow as death in a straight line, but it
handled better than you could possibly hope for in a
sedan. Communicative, light, and nimble; the Contour is
very well-known by enthusiasts as one of the best
handling sedans ever made. The build quality was very
impressive, and the car was extremely reliable. The Zetec
motor was strong and smooth, but the 4-speed ATX killed
whatever guts it had. While the trans shifted smoothly and
competently, the 5-speed manual is a MUST for fun-loving
drivers. The car was 14 years old when it finally was

Needs some work. drives smooth. its been sitting for half a year and has no major rust from it. Started right up after charging the battery. Not so sure about the gas mileage. Fun little car to drive. Cant wait to fix it up!Jan 29, 2010

This car is very suprising. I drive my girlfriends all the time and to be honest it is a total sleeper. Great interior, great gas mileage, and good performance. Ive actually seen a teenage girl outrun a grown man uphill in one of these... he was in a new mustang gt convertible. I was shocked. It is also great for a family car it seats 4 comfortably or 5 well not so comfortably. A giant trunk I mean huge could be a mafia car. I actually got this thing to do a donut not that impressive but it is when your driving a front wheel drive 4 cyl.Sep 23, 2009

It was a really really good car until I took it into a
couple trees. I never had any kind of problems with it.
Granted I only drove it for 6 or 7 months before
demolishing it. It had around 200000 miles and still

I wasn't too impressed with this car. I really wanted it at first. I got it from Weinle Auto Sales on Harrison Avenue and really the car was crap. I just needed a car really bad and wanted one even more than I needed it so I settled for this one. Once Chad got his GrandAm, I rarely drove this car, it pretty much sat there as a back up. We both really liked his GrandAm and I can see getting that car again... but this one just wasn't the best car for me.Jul 08, 2009

The Contour was my first car, bought it in 2002 for $5500 when I was 17, and I loved it when it wasn't being fixed. Cost me alot of money in repairs, although nothing huge failed on it before I got rid of it.
It had a very firm, sporty ride and handled extremely well, very fun to drive on twisty roads. It was the V6 SE model and it was Teal in color, which wasn't my favorite attribute I'll admit.
If it wasn't for how unreliable it had been I'd probably have kept it awhile longer while I looked for a new car, but I'm very happy with it's replacement.Jun 10, 2009

MY car sucks. Its bulit for an old man! Performance, is modrate and good gas. The sound sysmet is not good but i am not going to put money into it. My car is not fun to drive cuz its old looking!Feb 10, 2009

Performance didn`t scared me. Braking was okay and handling was good. Build quality is good too. Appearance: interior is classy while exterioir looks like an escort. Cost and gas mileage are low. If you have to buy a contour, try to find an SVT. SVT won`t deceive you.Nov 03, 2008

The 2.5L DOHC engine is amazing! Mine, after a little bit of work, is pushing 240 horses to the front wheel. the five speed tranny is soild, but i know the automatics are junk. I call my connie my drag car cause it only wants to go in a straight line. Handling could be better. My only compliant is that at take off it wheel hops like no other.Oct 25, 2008

This has got to be the best car I have ever owned. This car is pushing 167k and since I've owned it thier has only been three problems besides the standard maintaince that is required for ever automobile. The first is the headlights. This appears to be a common problem with Ford vehicles. My '88 Mustang, 94' T-Bird, Wife's 94' Tempo, Cusin's 95' Probe, and my buddies 96' Ranger. The lights allow moisture in "bad seals" and lenses hav a cloudy foged over look. The second is the hvac switch for the fan. Only the low and high settings work. The last is the interior lights. They seem to have a mind of thier own. They work off and on with no reason why? Other than those few and minor flaws it is hands down the best value I've ever had in an auto. If anyone is strapped for cash and needs a good car pick one up...Sep 07, 2008

It was my first car. I learned how to drive stick with it. It was pretty nice for a first car. I liked that it had alloy wheels. It was a long time ago, but it seemed to handle okay and be zippy enough for a teenager. It saved me in a 45+ mph crash, but was totalled.Aug 20, 2008

Well, when I've turned on the AC before, my brakes didn't work. The engine sounds funny when idling. Especially when AC is on. It cost 1,200 to buy and cost 900 for another engine to put in it and it still sounds like crap! But it doesn't die anymore at least. The drivers side window only goes half down...WOW! Great handling little car, not enough power. Cheap as hell insurance and fairly good mileage. Taught me a lot owning it cause I was constantly modifying something. The manual trans swap really woke it up.Apr 27, 2008

don't expect a porsche... its a quick little car, reliable, interior is sturdy, not many problems EXCEPT the transmission, its is a very weak tranny to begin with so don't race around with it or it will fail you, but if you drive it nicely is should last a while... the appearance it not the greatest but don't judge a book by its cover!Mar 25, 2008
