Servicing and parts can be expensive but overall, a great car to drive with good accleration and good handling and ride, although let down by build quality in places, particularly the dash and a rather vocal engine on the motorway :-)

Build quality is amazing. Not 1 single bit of rust! So much nicer than my 1998 clio. Looks amazing, drives amazing, and handles like a dream. More important the body work is like brand new! Clio mk1 is the way forward!Mar 23, 2009

Loved the 1.2 clio shame about the leaking sun roof tho lol. Brilliant acceleration, breaking and pos the only one i know to have handeled the corners so well lol. Only needed two strter motors but they easy enough to get hold of one lol. It has a decent inside with a few bumps on the outside when i brought it still the same now. It was fun to drive and couldnt ask for a better first road car. Put 10,000 miles on it in a yr so whenn i sold it it had bout 57 thousand but enjoyed every mile.Nov 15, 2008

Many people say the Clio Williams is the greatest hot hatch ever built, depsite it being 15 years old. They are right.
Amongst car nuts, this is generally regarded as a legendary automobile, though the gold wheels are not to everybodies taste!
It retains a unique look about it and I frequently have people asking me 'Is that a Williams!?', their response after I nod is usually something like: 'Wow!'
I've had many fast cars, more powerful that this old Clio...but this thing is undeniably fast as a bat out of hell. The roadholding is unbelievable.
I know a fair bit about mechanics and have been able to do all my own work to it, which is lucky as most cars like this need a fair bit of tlc to get them up to a reliable standard. I still have things to do, but it is proving to be a real hoot to drive and has only broken down once with a broken accelerator cable clip (which I fixed in about an hour with a new cable).
The interior is dated, but the golden limited edition no.217 Williams badge completely absolves it of having a cheap interior. The seats are fully adjustable and everyone who has been in it has commented on how good they are.
Bad points: Rust is common on these cars, and the engine is very large for such a small car that working in the 'bay is difficult if you area novice. Frequent checks of fluids is a must until you are 100% happy with anything that may leak!
Overrall: I've had better built cars, more powerful cars, and rarer cars...but this little nutter car surprises me everyay with what it can do. I think it surprises a fair few modern day so-call 'performance' car drivers as well ;)
Bring it on!

Its the muts nuts, and its all mine. For an automatic it has the fastest pull away from the lights of any small car i've ever been in bar none. It sticks all the way round in the corners and doesn't drift or over steer. The sound system is pretty good to.Sep 05, 2008

Hard to review something when you have nothing to compare it to. In hindsight, it was quite a nice mix of comfort and handling, but suiffered from a serious lack of power and broke down a lot. Met an unpleasent end headbutting a tree at two in the morning in the summer of 03Jan 08, 2008

This was my first car after graduation... did a load of miles up and down the A12 in Essex up to Ipswich/Suffolk. Faired ok. Soon swapped it up for the 16V version though (hot man!).Jan 05, 2008

Worked ok until I drove it round a bend and into an oncoming Porsche Boxter... Had a red 1.2 litre. No power steering, no airbags (as I found out on that damp blood splattered evening on the bend...)Dec 27, 2007

only had this car a short time bought it because it was done up as a boy racer car. It is a good little runner and always starts first time had no trouble with it at all but wouldn't like to travel long distances in it would make an ideal first car and is good for driving round town but tends to wobble a bit on motorway which is scary in high winds Dec 23, 2007
