It's a VR6, nice car to look and to drive but visited dealership very often to fix... ended up driving rental car most of the time. Anything you can think of and you cannot think of went wrong and need fixing. Always needed to wait for parts being shipped from Germany to Canada... To sum up... Fun to drive but definitely not fun to own...just personal opinion...Mar 30, 2010

For a car built in 1993, this car is a rocket. The handling and overall performance matches or exceeds cars in this category of even today's standards..... 0-60 in around 6.7 seconds. This car was rated one of top gear's 100 best cars to drive in your lifetime!!!!Nov 25, 2009

Power Spoiler operates automaticaly, lifting at 45MPH, lowers when dropped below 15.
It was a daily driver and ony car of mine for almost 3 years, now has only weekend and fun duties.
The kind of car you hate for the investment to keep it nice, but driving experience like no oter VW ever made.
The last true raw Sport Coupe offered as a colaboration between Karmann Coach Works and Volkswagen.

Fun, sleek, sexy, adn fast these words describe this corrado..
The car is customized to have fun. The downside about this
car is it shouldn't be a daily driver. This very fun to drive and
its most fun when your picking up girls!!!Nov 06, 2009

The Volkswagen Corrado is one of the more underground, rare, beautiful, and true collector cars out in the world of automobiles. With only ~100,000 produced between 90-95, it is fairly rare, it came in with a G60 Supercharged 8v 4cyl 1.8 or the OBDI 12v VR6. However the Corrado is one of the most expensive Volkswagens to care and maintain for, it is rumored to be one of, if not the, biggest money pits VW ever produced.
The appearance of the Corrado when seen in pictures gives the car no justice as like with exotics for example, they are very small cars and are slightly shorter than the classic Volkswagen Beetle. The interior of the SLC model came factory equipped with leather seats that are very comfortable and have 6 positions adjusted manually.
I would say the fun factor of the Corrado is one of the funnest cars i've ever driven so far. Quoted by Top Gear, it is one of the funnest cars to drive next to a Ferrari. It's performance is very great for what it is and can stop fairly well. Accelerating in the higher gears is just as quick and fun, than when you hit 45 MPH, the speed sensitive spoiler activates. It's a very economic car averaging about 23-28 MPH combined City and Highway.Sep 26, 2009

Great Car if you can find an unmolested example. Great little rocket. Had some cool features like the spoiler you could raise and lower by a button or it would come up at speed and then back down as you slowedJun 24, 2009

this car has it all!! performance, handling, luxury, and damn. its fun as hell to drive!!! ever taken a 35 mph u turn and gone 95 mph in 3rd gear? yeah. this car is fun. i bought it in 2001 and have put 60000 miles on it since i bought it. no complaints. never left me on the side of the road. just maintenance. would recommend this car to anyone as long they understand how amazing this machine is and they respect it. everything has boundaries... gets about 23 mpg and is very comfortable in my opinion... there is a shortage of cargo space but if youre looking at this car, your not looking to haul anything... other than that? 9.9 out of 10. VW did a phenomenal job on this car.Aug 04, 2008

I love my Corrado, even with the problems it has given me (what else do you expect from a 15 year old car?). Its handles like its on rails (the coilovers help), and is a blast to drive day in and day out. The VR roars when you need it to, but it can be a civil engine if you want.
Like almost every VW I know, there are squeaks and rattles, but they add more character to the car if anything-and hunting them all down would take weeks. Repairs can be quite costly, since the numbers have dwindles greatly in the past years, but its worth it. save yourself some money too, but a bentley manual and do the work yourself.
The car looks contemporary regardless what is near it. It has a timeless body and many people seem to mistake it for a mid/late 90's car and seem quite shocked when I tell them its a 93. And the wing. Thats the best thing ever. Goes up at 45, back down at 15 and it just adds a touch of awesome to the car. Interior wise, the leather is probably the best option, and the 93+ dash is more modern than the predecessors. There are more switches and buttons than I was used to, but it is all laid out in a seemingly sensible manner and allows you to keep you eyes on the road.
Heres the downside. Its a Corrado. Parts are hard to come by, and people who know a lot about them are even harder to find. get a bantley manual and learn how to work on it yourself if you want one. I get about 25+mpg (on par with my old 1.8t) driving somewhat spiritedly.
Overall the car is a blast. I would recommend it only to someone who really understands what they are getting themselves into though as I even find myself struggling at points. Do your research and buy a car in good shape over a "deal".Jul 31, 2008
