I love this car, i've always wanted one, and ever since i've had this car, i've enjoyed every minute behind the wheel.
The model I own is a 1.8 16v, one day I hope to convert the engine and put somethin like a VR6, G60 engine in it or even a possibility of an R32 engine in :)Jul 14, 2009

The car was fantastic. The supercharged 4 cylinder had a bit of a lag when you punched the gas pedal but then you would feel the charger kick in and it would zoom. The rear spoiler was speed activated to raise at about 45 mph and retract around 25 mph.
I had a yelllow one. It caught lots of attention. The seat were bucket style including the rear. It was hard for rear passengers to get in and out. The exhaust had a nice rumble sound. The trunk was rather smalll and useless. Overall, I had lots of fun driving this car. Sep 23, 2008

Acceleration was outstanding for a 1.8 litre main in 1991, keeps up with import Scooby's (Ask Marc - lol). This car was far from standard in the performance area and there is too much to list here, if you want a list of the performance mods, just ask me.
Build quality was a bit pants but I sorted that out as much as I could.
After spending so much time and money on this car it finally looked like a rear classic. The photo's simply prove it.
As with all performance modified cars, the petrol is not cheap and maintenance is harsh to say the least.
This car was mind blowing to drive from accelerating to cornering, it had a perfect setup from most of the cars that I've driven before.Aug 28, 2008

I love smokin boy racers in their lil kitted up pugs. the look on their faces when they get left in the dust makes my day!!! It casts a fortune in petrol, only because im constantly racing. An amazing car to drive...I dont know how i did without it!Jul 31, 2008

the corrado 16v, basically the the best bits are put into this from the best volkswagens, from the passat gearbox to the gti [unburstable] lump. lowering is a must as thease cars already have a suprerior grip and go kart feel, the g60 models are troublesome with things like supercarger reboaring, and good ones are becoming a rarity, the vr6 model is awesome but with a heavy front end which leads to a lot of understeer, but u goota love the tourque, and the fact that you can add nitrous oxide to the vr6 lump and get away with it, how do i know? cus ive done it, and the result was scarey quick to say the least! the 8v model is a strong one but lacks the power
so buy it for the misses, the seating position i love, and the looks when trated right are simply gorgous, mpg is good to, prone to distributer problems, easil fixed thoughJul 20, 2008

Wanted one of these for over 5 years in nugget yellow. I just love the sound of the charger humming. i see these as a black sheep of the vw family. you love em or hate em. Can be costly on maintenance. The charger needs over hauling every 60 k. Jul 17, 2008

I am absolutley smitten with the VW Corrado. It, in my opinion, is the perfect car. Fun to drive. Good on gas. Looks great. Is rare and unique. Has cool features only seen in higherend rides. Handles like a dream. Fairly comfortable. Decent performance. And I really could go on-and-on singing it's praises.
As for my rankings. Obviously my overall impression is I love it. My '91 G60 is going to the grave with me. It's performance is great for it's class, and can even put some of today's sports coupes to shame.
I did rank it very high for build quality and reliablity. And if you personally know me and my Corrado, you know it hasn't ran in years. So this high ranking is factoring in, that for the two years I was driving it as a daily driver, it never failed me. Not once. And even when the transmission started to go, I was able to drive it at slow speeds for months.
But the real key to the high ranking is the build quality and materials used. The interior is full leather on mine, and it is some of the nicest leather I have seen. The features are beyond what you would expect from a '91 sport coupe also. Seat heaters, side mirror defrosters, speed activated spoiler, trip computer. My '99 Pontiac Grand Prix GT, could only wish it had these.
As for the apperance. I absultley think the styling is top notch. With it not running now, I will just go stair at it in the garage and take in all it's great lines. That wedge look is awsome, with that line running from the front of the car, under the windows and ending back in the spoiler.
The only thing I am not a huge fan of is some of the plastic pieces on the outside. Like the strip for the door ding protection, the door handles, the plastic around the outside mirrors, the grill, and the rear license plate mount. These bits would have looked better body colored, or at least with not as cheap looking plastic. I am not a fan or the U.S. spec amber front turn signals either. But that is an easy fix of just buying the Euro specs to replace them. And the headlight also didn't age well. But once again, the aftermarket "angel eye" type are what are going on mine once I get it running to remidey that.
As for recomending to a friend. I wouldn't. Not because it is a bad car. But because if everyone drove one, why would it be so special. I love the fact that I have one of maybe 4 in my city. For that matter one of maybe about 15 in my state! Apr 27, 2008
