I am the second owner of a 1992 stealth base model. I was luckier than most as mine was a 1 owner vehicle that came with a complete service history folder the size of two phone books and it had under 100,000 miles. Seven years later and another 100,000 miles have passed. It has suffered from two altenator failures, (the hardest thing on the car to fix, due to its location) two new batteries, a clutch slave and master cylinder, several tires, lots of Castrol syntec until they changed the name, a radio failure, belts, hoses and air filters as needed, one cv axle, a light accident that dented the passenger side fender and broke the front indicator lens (AIG auto insurance said it was totalled and was going to take my car if I made a claim!) Also the repeated wear of two, then three, kids. As it is barely a four seater, it was useless as a family car after our third child was born, and barely adequate when our oldest turned 10. Overall, I can't recommend this car for somebody who doesn't know how to do basic maintenance, and it's definitely not a good first car for somebody. The 1992 model is over 20 years old now, and deserves some respect. So, if you're a boy racer or thinking of modifying one, please look elsewhere. There are very few that have remained stock like mine, and if you are looking for one, beware the modded ones. They have probably been poorly assembled and thrashed to death! Pay no more than $1200 for a broken home modified as you will probably need to replace the engine and transmission and the body may be twisted. Professionally modified should command top dollar only if it is purchased from the mod shop, if it has been used since the pro-mod, assume it is in the same condition as a rusty 400,000 mile Toyota corolla! Pure stock versions should be checked thoroughly as it may have been owned by someone who doesnt know where the oil goes. Most importantly, look for documentation! If there are reciepts and documentation, you know what needs to be done and what has been done. Also remember, original parts are expensive and hard to find as most modders chucked them when they did their thing.Mar 14, 2013

The Stealth was a unique car back in the day. I can't say it was the most reliable (i.e. oil leak, brakes, etc) but it got me where I needed to go safely. The replacement parts for this car are fairly inexpensive also, which made the repairs manageable.Sep 06, 2012

So far since I've had this car, its been very reliable and wall maintained from the previous owner (95,067 original miles). I love the fact that it has the power when I need it, but also a good over all drive. The only thing that kind of erks me is the fact that the back seats are pretty much non-functional. The space in the hatch is pretty much useless too. Now I know its a sports car first and everything else second so it doesn't bug me too much.Apr 11, 2012
