I have owned this car for 13 years. I bought it when I was 19 and making bi-weekly 400 mile trips to see my girlfriend. I'd be lying if I didn't say the 140 mph speedometer didn't intrigue me as a kid, and I've been close to pegging it a time or two. It is still fun for me to drive, even if its performance values are not comparable to cars made today. The one that is very relevant is fuel economy; this 3.0 L 5 speed car will get 35 mpg on the highway (at 65 mph). I recently drove a hybrid on a road trip that averaged 38 mpg. It has had its drawbacks...the car has always had an overheating problem whenever I have the ac on. I have created other problems (and learned more about auto repair in the process) of chasing this problem down. But, aside from these problems the only other work (preventative maintenance excluded) I've done to it is 1) A new ECU 2) A new BCM 3) Oxygen Sensor 4) Rear axle end (bad bearing burned into axle end) 5)Tires. It is overdue for some new shocks/struts.Sep 27, 2013

I bought this car for parts to fix up my other '92
Daytona IROC. This one HAD a 2.5L turbo with
automatic but has those OEM Ninja rims I'm after. Plus
some misc body panels and trim parts. Watch e-bay for
items from mopargbody and you may have an

I loved my little blue car, Sammy, god rest him. I had five people besides my self packed into that thing that one fourth of july it was hilarious... It was so much fun to drive but had small issues like over heating...Jan 06, 2010

Performance: 14.2 sec 1/4 mile from the factory
Build Quality: It rides rough, rattles, and squeaks. Who cares? Turn the music up or drive faster
Appearance: Power leather seats, sunroof, fog lights, ground effects and hatch style leave people unfamiliar with the car thinking it's a Fox body mustang.
Cost of Ownership: 25-30mpg. It gets driven about 2000 miles a year, so it doesn't require a whole lot of maintenance.
Fun Factor: A great car to drive around and cruise in. Has an exhaust note that sounds like no other car.

My daytona was rear ended last week and suffered a lot of damage. It is in the shop. I can't wait to get it fixed. The car that rear ended me was totaled but I was not injured and feel very safe in my car.

Looked slick with its sleek design and awesome rear "spoiler," but the engine was weak and seemed to enjoy blowing head gaskets. The turn signal never worked when you wanted it to, either, and the rear seats may as well have been torn out. The ride was stiff and creaky, but the car did get me around for a couple of years. When the Dodge Daytona first hit the scene, it was the first entirely CAD designed car in the world. Built to compete with the Chevrolet Camaro and the Ford Mustang in the early 80's, it put out the same amount of power and torque out of turbo 4 cylinders but saved fuel, and looked better. In 1990 Dodge started using the 6G72 Mitsubishi SOHC 3.0L V6 under the hood of the Daytona. Coupled with the A543 5 Speed Manual, the car was a force to be wreckoned with. The engine and manual transmission were virtually bulletproof, and most Daytona interiors are very plush, and exteriors stand up to the elements very well. The car even has a 5 star NHSTA front crash rating. Mine went to 312,000km before I sold it, and it sold for $3400! A great car for reliable transportation and for a little performance.Feb 11, 2008

The Dodge Daytona/Chrysler Laser was an attempt by Chrysler to keep up its performance image in the late 80s and early 90s while making a car that fell well short of the glory days of the Barracuda, Charger, and Challenger. The small, lightweight 2-door hatchback seems to ride the fence between performance and economy. While the base models featured the same engines as Chrysler's rank and file economy sedans, the later Mitsubishi "Cyclone" V6 and Chrysler Turbo engines proved worthy opponents for Ford's Mustang and GM's Camaro/Firebird. While it won't set any records at the track, the Daytona's rarity and unique style make it an integral part of Chrysler's sports car legacy.Feb 07, 2008

it has 35 mpg they come with 200 hp with turbo standard 5 speeds,no turbo 175 hp,its a v6 5 speed turbo 2 doors,the best one to own,92 or 91 are the better cars,93 s,look ugly and 94 s,but under 91 s ,no air bags ,the 80 s, ones are more ugly looking never buy one of them bad deal the best it 91 and 92.Jan 30, 2008

i have a dodge daytona with a 2.8L, 4 cyl with stage 4 turbo and a stage 2 clutch kit.
