I would say this is a great project car body wise, the motor runs like a champ. I got it from a guy in Germany and it was rough, but I gave it 3.5K worth of parts and coil over lowering spring, rebuild and beefed up the motor, exhaust, oil, lots and lots of premium high octane fuel, paint touch up, racks, tires, 800 dollar stereo with subs. It's an average family car. It accalerates good, brakes are good, handling is very good. It is a good car and it doesn't need much repairs. Exterior is exelent for a car from 1991. interior is clasic but comfi. It is a family car so it is not so much fun to drive.Aug 20, 2011

very sporty feeling car, felt fast, handled well, and the best brakes ever. Very well built car, and it was always clean and looked great. The red color always made it worth it to give it a fresh coat of wax. Great on gas!!Sep 16, 2010

i love the speed and handling this car achieves in any weather or terrain.gets great gas mileage and fits into narrows of spots..but VW have the worst parts to work on and find if u havent worked on them alot.Aug 10, 2010

Diesel need I say more? 900kms to a tank(55Litres) turbo whine irreplaceable, slow as balls but it'll tow a ski boat, as long as they're maintained virtually no major problems, sounds great without exhaust, fun in the winter (for drifting)Apr 29, 2010

This is a great car for some one just learning to drive.
built like a rock except the stupid plastic trim pieces.
the down side to the solidity of the car is it's heavy is even with 170 some horse power the acceleration is pretty bad.
the gas millage is really bad for short trips but pretty good for the age of the car.
i haven't had too many problems heater core, breaks have had a few problems, and other small things
i think its fun to drive its really good for being old

Performance: Le falta aceleracion de 0-60km/h, pero de ahi para arriba jala muy bien. buenos frenos, transmicion automatica, 8v, 1.8L, por lo ke yo se tiene 102h.
Appearence: Euro style!!!!! interiores en piel, color plateado, rines 16". I love my car!!!

fast, fun and handles well. i have an aftermarket grill and headlights which make it look sexier and it has a racing clutch, eibach suspension and 5 spd manual tranny which make it a dream to drive. aside from the cat, it runs really well for a car of it's year and mileage.

The Mk2 Jetta was basically a Golf with a boot. It was a really heavy car and didn't even have power steering. Really solid car, barely had a thing go wrong with it throughout it's entire life. Very basic equipment, but very comfortable ride!Apr 27, 2009

This car was my mom's car for the longest time. Great little car. Easy to maintain, drive, and keep. It got great gas mileage (32 mpg), and handled great. Zippy little car with some balls to it. Wasn't the fastest in accelerating, but when it got there, it stood strong!Sep 06, 2008

Ehh, did its job broke lots of plastic connectors in shifter linkage. Not sure what they were called but every time one broke I would be down to two gears, usually third and fourth.Jul 05, 2008

These cars last into the hundreds of thousands of miles, but parts will need replacement. Most of the things are easily fixed, but other, more major ones must be taken to a dealer unless you are very experienced or have the right tools. There's tons of information online easily available to do modifications and repairs.Mar 24, 2008
