years ago i bought a genuine 205 rallye 1.3 with two double weber carburettors, in nice condition.
meanwhile i am stripping it down in order to rebuild it within a few years.
but there is much work left on it!Jul 22, 2010

This is about the 5th 205 GTi I have owned, when I started driving this was the only hot hatch I wanted and when I took the first one out on test drive I had to have it, it was the basic 1.6 GTi but was great, well balanced and had the best handling of any car I had ever driven.. I finally got a 1.9 GTi off a good friend of mine and thought this car was even better as it was more powerful and a little more fun to drive (forced oversteer!!) This new car has an Mi16v engine fitted running twin weber 45's with moody cams, cut valve seats etc.. it also runs a BE3 1.6 gearbox so accelerates very quickly, I bought it as a road going track car so will have money spent on it.. standard build quality isn't bad even though it is French, lol.. however it was put together, originally, in Coventry.. the car is nearly standard on the outside apart from an auto bonnet that makes it look more aggresive and I coloured the alloys black as well as the grille, its not too much to own or run and is worth all the money in fuel.. the car is great to drive and is more fun than anything else at the moment.. I like the handling and the easy used gearbox. The engine is smooth and revs on 7400 rpm. The max output is in 6400 rpm, 88hp
The seats are green and the rest of it is grey/back.
I would recommend it to those who like to drive small sporty cars.

the 205 gti was a super fast gti it was light and went like a rocket for its time its still a classsic in my eyes the newer models try to recreate the vib it gave but the raw power that it produced and the skateboard handling i think will never be reproducedAug 20, 2008

One of the best, ran this car in to the ground, and still sold it as a non-runner to some guy from Bristol, who wanted that Diesel version badly.Jun 28, 2008

The 205 GTI 1.6 was the best balanced car i've driven so far. They won lots of races in the eighties.Jan 14, 2008
