Farmer's field find 10/11, D.D. 1/12. It's been alot of work and Fun. It's the simply design of this car that makes it so easy to work on. And having been left in a field for years there is plenty of that. It handles well, brakes are quick to stop the car. The stance and shape of this EF is very pleasing to the eye. Build quality is average for a 25 yr. old compact. I can say that it has held up very nicely body wise and the paint is original and looks great after buffing and waxxing. If you look any part can still be found and prices are cheap. Performance in a 70 hp engine is not there, the only thing this baby passes on a regular basis is the gas stations 41.9 mpg best tank and averages 38mpg! and this on a 180K drivetrain. The best part is the fun factor in driving this car.Jun 03, 2012

She looks like an old pile o' crap but she drives like a dream! I just swapped a B16 into the old girl and now she runs like a champ. She gets a whopping 45mpg and has 160hp. I love driving this car; however, i don't like fixing everything that's wrong. Things just seem to die one after another. I would not recommend buying one of these unless you are looking for a daily commuter that you don't mind looking ridiculous in. She's my baby so i love her very much, but i don't get the impression that anyone else would really love her like i do.Nov 15, 2010

It is a very easy car to drive with alot of
power for the size of the engine. smooth
ride and nice gearbox. i can get 550km out
of 43 litres. no rust in mine and is 22

i have loved the 88-91 civics since my friend first had a 88 civic hatchback si, that thing was fast fun and nimble in the corners, so i bought a 88 sedan lx and its my daily driver these cars are so easy to drive, i love the view of the road behind the wheel of my car, it has a low hood line so you just see the road, what more could someone ask for, cheap price, excellent fuel economy, cheap to insure, proboly one of the most reliable vehicles ever made, decent trunk space, comfortable for its size, i can put 10 dollars in the gas tank and get half a tank in vancouver washington, i will always have love for any 88-91 honda civic.....great cars, good times,.. this was the best car i ever owned and after owning 4 cars at the age of 24 thats saying something. gas mileage was phenominal. it was a manual also. new tires were inexpensive to replace. actually most of the parts were relatively inexpensive. very easy to work on. i replaced the starter myself with no experience and it still runs after like 5 yrs. good buy for the long distance driver.Jul 20, 2010

Awesome to drive, No crappy electronics : No ABS, No Power Steering, Manual Tranny, No Traction Control, No Stability control, etc. Feels like a Go-kart ! Lots of space in the back, HATCHBACKS FTW !! I can fit both my bikes in there easily lol

First Honda I have ever owned or driven. Amazing little car for its age. 272000kms and the darn thing still runs like a top. Fun car to drive. Solid on turns. Too bad the engine haqs just about maxed out on kms. May just have it rebuilt. Fourth generation Civics (1988) are my favorite. Cllassic look to boot.Mar 07, 2010

Just want to try new idea,, ZC SOHC with 2 carb and 4 Muffler on the top header.. Not need a lot money to build this machine.. but we can beat the expensive car with this civic.. I love this car..Jan 08, 2010

This car was a blast to drive and outrages for what it was. Mine was a 5 speed. We broke a power steering line so we just took the belt off then the ac stooped pumping cold air so we took that belt off and then added and intake and manifold back exhaust system. awesome acceleration! handling not so bad but a bit nervous
sometime.. the front of the car is like the hatchback and also
like the toyota AE86.. as its an old model.. difficult to come

It is spacious but not to big! It gets great gas mileage and it is very reliable! This car will help save you money and will get you were you need to go! It may not be an all in one vehicle, but it is a great investment! i would recomend this car to anyone!Sep 08, 2009

Well when I bought it I found out when i was driving home that the seat was not bolted in. I then found out about 2 miles from home that the alternator was bad.
I bought the car for $500 and after spending about $250 and 12 hours of labor I have a decent car
installed new Valve cover gasket, distributor o-ring gasket, new alternator.

20+ years old and I still get 30MPG beat that. The suspention system is still tight but shocks needs to be a little stiffer. A little wax & maintenace goes a long ways, other than the cars interior is old, but I still have all the creature comforts like power steering, power windows, afer market AM & FM Stereo with CD player AC and more.Apr 08, 2009

This was one of my favs. I got the car for like 150 bucks. it needed everything posible. I fixed her up a bit put a monza pacceter cat back exhaust system on it and it riped the streets in half. That car amazed alot of friends on how fast it was. I rememer smoking a neon with shane one day and the cops seen us but be snuck out of town. hehehehehMar 31, 2009

my civic was the shizzle! I raced a 92 beretta in the 43-industrial park head to head and i won partly because im an excelent driver, and my 1.8 was no mach for his 3.1 lol! Funny, i later put that car in the creek blocks away from where i made the crazy pass to beat him! i tryed to cut through a field i thought was there as a short cut.They built a hospital and put a huge drainage ditch for theyre parking lot in, thanks for the heads up! GOOD MPG, still running even though it is older than i am. Rust from everyplace you dont want....GOOD CAR! I have had problems with the hood latch, lower tie rod end, brake lights, power windows, and power steering, but it is very old and expected. Voiture japonaise des années 80 à 2 carbus origine moto. Un véhicule fiable, sans électronique, performant et amusant, idéal pour un jeune permis s'il veut une voiture ultra fiable, qui tourne fort (pour sa catégorie) et originale. Cependant, mieux vaut ne pas avoir le pied trop lourd !

I got this car 3 years ago and have not had anything go wrong with it and only been impressed. The car is smaller than some would like but it has plenty of room for me. Handling, braking, acceleration are all excellent for a 20 year old car with a 4cyl engine auto. Apr 07, 2008

The 4th generation Honda Civic is a very popular car, even though it´s over 20 years old.
One of the main reasons for it´s popularity may be that it has the exaxt same chassis and suspension as the newer Civics. The ED, EF, EG and EK basically share 99% of the same components when it comes to suspension.
The 4th Gen (ED for the european and american market cars, and EF for japanese domestic market cars + all the VTEC models) is by far the lightest of the bunch, so when given modern day suspension and brake components it´s a very nicely handling carMar 20, 2008

When we bought it it was so rusted we could see right thru it. My dad and I redid the body
and painted it ourselfs I was quite proud. The frame broke went it was lifted for an oil

I think that if the car is maintained with regular oil changes and a tune up and a good battery it'll be reliable! Mine needs some minor work done to it but I think I can pull another 100,000 miles out of it. I have to give it to Honda they make a good car!Sep 14, 2007
