A cult classic pocket rocket. Ive owned tons of 8v and only 1 16v and i gotta say...how can u get so much fun outta 90-124hp..how can a stock 4 banger pushin 124hp leave a 5.0 lx mustang behind ? No their car wasnt crap. Sciroccos rock, hence the nickname "rocco's"Oct 17, 2010

just a fun, light car which with slight mods (swaybars, bilsteins, and lowered springs) can go around corners amazingly well. super nimble and tossable. BUT very rough, noisy, and a little old so all sorts of things go wrong from time to time.May 14, 2009

My first new car. GTI performance in a better
looking package. This car was extremely attractive
but very utilitarian. You could pack an unbelievable
amount into this car. Fuel mileage on the 1.8 litre
motor was spectacular- often in excess of 40 mpg
on the highway. The interior was a bit spartan -
this was a low-end sports car, but was comfortable
and functional. Handling was surprisingly stiff and
performance of the engine and chassis showed off
all the borrowed parts from the Porsche 924
prominently. I'd still be driving it if I hadn't sold it

hey hey, my 1987 volkswagen scirocco was one of the the most fun cars to drive, that ever owned. I had the 1.8 gtx model that came with all the gti interior, and also had the trip computer which also told me my mpg and ave speed. The engine was infact the gti engine that was used in the mk 1 golf (a legendary car), so the scirocco was not short of power at-all.The one and only problem i found with the car was that i found the head room was quite low, but this does not at-all lower my feelings for what i think is an under-rated, fantastic, good looking and fast 80s sports car.Sep 08, 2008

Great car, economical,simple, tough,beautiful.
Really fun to drive, still can beat most of today's car.
Really easy to modify, you still have parts real cheap.
Really easy to repair, just a few bugs but they are always the same.
Great handling and acceleration with a modded suspension.

The VW Scirocco is a marvelous automobile.
It's got all the comforts and known features of a Golf,
only it looks so much better than a Golf!
Power was a bit down on mine, only being a 1.8 8V,
but the 16V is great fun to drive!

This is my VW scirocco 16V, it's a work in progress and more of a money pit than anything right now. It's my open track day, it has no carpet/heat/radio/rear seats/ect... If I don't absolutely need it to drive I have eliminated it for weight reduction, light = fastMay 29, 2008
