The 944 is a well balanced anolog car that makes for an excellent entry into Porsche ownership. Jun 16, 2020

I have had few mechanical problems with this car over a 13 year period. Garaged and not driven in winter. Changed timing belt and water pump about 10,000 miles ago. Has 128,000 miles on it now. I had it painted in 2002, but it has a cracked interior console. No body rust.Oct 06, 2013

i really like these cars because they are fairly inexpensive and really enjoyable to drive I don't like the bumper rubbers. and the sunroof which is a terrible design. but over all i am satisfied with tis type of car, however a turbo model wouldn"t be out of the question... Feb 22, 2012

This car can handle! Its fast and fun to drive! I felt like I was flying and it was so fun. The gas mileage was great too for a sports car. The only issue was it was old and needed things fixed like the a/c and cruise control.May 04, 2011

It is a fun older car. Good build but wiering could be bad so check. Parts are very expencive, why my car is no longer mine. and real cheap to buy if there is an easy problem to fix. Drive only in the summer.Jul 11, 2010

great used car. predictable handling. Very controlled body motion. great value for dollar ratio. recommended to pick up a latter model for much better interior. a tad bit short on power. Almost bullet proof car mechanically, but electrical components are rather iffy. Car has great street presence for its age. You get second looks on the street for the price of a Honda civic. nice car, extremely hard to work on, but i'm 6'4 and fit in it fine. however although it is a 4 seater, its more like 2 and 2 for luggage. lol parts are also hard to get for it. interior is mint though for being 26 years old.Feb 08, 2010

I like especially the suspension and balance of my Porsche.
She´s just perfect to take out for a drive and attack corners.
Next summer I hope I´ll have time to take her to Nürburgring
and it´s nordschleife for a spinn... Feb 03, 2010

i like everything about it. its a porsche. it handels perfectly with its 50/50 weight distibution. its a little cost effective since im not a full time employee but i maintain it fairly well. Great car thought cant wait to track herOct 06, 2009

She is brilliant to drive smooth, fast and really like to be pushed. There are some big faults like the driving position and steering wheel position. However when things do go wrong you need lots of money to fix her.Sep 26, 2009

Slow car but still fun to drive. Fantastic handling. God help you if you have to pay a shop for service. Do it yourself.
Somehow this car has no rust and the paint still shines after 25 years. Not even a rusty bolt on the whole car.Jul 31, 2009

By today's standards it's not really that fast, but the way it feels when doing it is like nothing made today.
The best bit is that the harder you drive it - the better it gets.
Mine's basic, with no extras - so no power steering or aircon or electric seats and windows. Not even a rear wiper, so basically there's nothing that can go wrong...

This car does not have a standard gearbox, and you have to rev it up a bit at the start if you want to go anywhere. Once moving, she can eat up mountain roads like Oreo cookies. Has stiffer springs, front and rear roll bars, limited slip transmission, and stiffer dampers. The looks are gorgeous without being too flashy. Has had some maintenance troubles, but overall a good car.Feb 20, 2009

what it lacked in 0-60 acceleration, porsche made up for it two fold in its superb handling. between being the easiest german car i've ever worked on, and very very stunning, aggressive styling, make this a car guys friend. drop the clutch and this 2.5 inline 4 will smoke the tires. i was also able to locate an after market stroker kit, which i believe would make it comparable to the 3 liter 4 cylinder that porsche put into the 1990 model.Aug 17, 2008

My car is a slightly modified version of the stock model, its got the turbo front bumper and a rear spoiler from the 968..
The build quility of the modifications could be better, but overall its ok..
The engine is still the stock 2,5 163 Bhp engine and it runs perfectly..Jul 24, 2008

The only problem i have is the quick loss of traction in turns at low speed. And its a maintance cost is realy high. Its a fun car to drive on the open roads not in town because the lack of power steering and its ride hight. If u are not a Porsche fan it is wise not to buy oneJul 18, 2008

This car can be picked up for around 4-6 grand and is a blast. It handles great and even though it is old, it has a high quality engine in it and will last.Jun 02, 2008

I own the non turbo version so the acceleration is not what it could be. The car is the best handling automobile that I 've had the pleasure of laying my hands on. The trans is in the back to make for an almost perfect 50-50 weight distribution. One problem, which I knew before I bought the car, is all the little things that go wrong with it. Just make sure to keep it well kept or your going to blow a waterpump/timing belt and have to rebuild your engine.May 30, 2008

handled great, interior was luxurious, faster then most 4 and some 6 cylinders. wasn't the best looking car but also wasn't the ugliest either. i liked this car because it was comfortable to drive, both in seating and ride quality, and it saved gas compared with an 8 cylinder.Apr 04, 2008
