The overall appearance of the 944 seemed to be in the same category as the Dodge Daytona or Chrysler Conquest TSi of the 80's. These zippy little hatchbacks have been brought back to life in various forms. Everything from stock/turbo engines to LS1 V-8s have made these formidable track monsters. Once deemed the poor man's Porsche, it's not uncommon to see one leave a higher priced model in the dust.Jan 09, 2015

I think it is a stunning and unique looking car and I am pleased with it but I am into the automotive modification game so i have a tendency to go fast and want more power.I feel that the standard 944 like i have is a little slow compared to my other cars so I would like to increase its power and lighten in obviously.Dec 06, 2014

I really like the power and the handling provided by this car! It handles better than a Spec Miata and is a LOT faster than an SM. It has the best of everything, and wins most races entered, though driver is 71 year old amateur.May 29, 2014

The engine is a design that is one half of the Porsche 928 engine. A balance shaft was added to steady the engine. This is a very unique design for its time. It is difficult to find many of this model left. There is a plastic shim that the valve chain rides over, that needs to be replaced with regular maintenance. Many people forget to do this. This is a #2-#3 rated Classic car.May 24, 2012

This sweet heart of a car has spawned so many manufacturers to copy it's styling you'll run out of fingers and toes counting how many. I bought mine sight unseen due to it's rare color combination and low miles. If you like to twist a wrench and have a place to tinker, this is the car for you. Easy and uncomplicated to maintain, you won't need a mechanics license to keep it on the road.Feb 17, 2012

The Turbo version (951) is one of Porsche's best ever cars. With some minimal after market tuning it is one of the fastest and best handling cars on the road of any year or make. It is comfortable long distance road car.Feb 27, 2010

Good cheap intro to the Porsche range.The build quality was good but the parts were sometimes expensive.The only reaso sold it was it needed a serious respray ! Good fun to drive well balanced in corners.Also a good size 4 seat sports carFeb 19, 2010

Porsche pedigree all the way considered by many to be a good handling sports car back in the day because of the near 50/50 weight distributin pretty balance easy to drive super car 150 mph easy top speed very rewardinga and comfortable to driveSep 07, 2009

Handles really well around corners, good acceleration once you get the hang of the super heavy clutch, the quality is great because it is still in good condition even though an 87', 27mpg is great for a sports car, most porsches are much less, it needs regular maintenance but it's not too badAug 01, 2009

it handles great. when i stop at an intersection all eyes are on the porsche. it starts everytime even in below zero temps. parts are costly but very seldom needs repairs. never breaks down. they built them solid. customizing is funJul 16, 2009

Great car. I miss this one a lot! Not a lot of room inside, but it feels like a drivers car. Everything about it said "DRIVE ME!" The car looks great with a very distinctive style. Nothing on the road drive like a Porsche.Jul 16, 2009

I own a 1987 Porsche 944 turbo. Otherwise known as a Porsche 951. The car was designed to be a well balanced sports car. Not heavy on power, nor on weight. Thanks to it's 50/50 weight balance and great torque curve, the car can cut through turns like a cart on rails, with enough power to soak up the straights in seconds.Feb 26, 2009

Performance is amazing althought a small mulfunctioning part can do a big difference, the build quality is just (a porsche) every detail is very well thought off but bit costy as replacement part wise, appearance for me i love it line and i think that in some perspective it the most beautiful design ever its very slik appearance i just adore it, fun factor it has an amazing handeling and controle i have real great time just flying between cars as fast as i can it has a great responseAug 01, 2008

Awsome car! Most fun you can have with you pants firmly attached in 1987 and now! Will buy purchasing shortly. Great acceleration and excellent gas mileage. Maintenance can be a bit pricey. All in all very fun car to drive and be seen driving. Would recommend to anyone as long as you find one in good condition.Jul 22, 2008

This is by far the nicest car I've owned, but I still need to see what else is out there As far as performance goes, the car is fast for a 200hp car. Once you drive it for a while though you want more. Braking and handling are amazing. Four piston calipers on all four corners, this car hurts to stop fast. After 20 years of being driven with 120k miles, This car is still holding together nicely. I've had to fix a lot of oil leaks which this car is known for, and replaced blown koni shocks in the rear. Other than that, just routine maintenance. Jun 26, 2008

I think that my car is pretty tight. It is good in all areas. The performance is breath taking. 270 hp and nothing is like a single turbo 4 cyl. cost is not too bad to own, a little maintaing here and there. It's great fun to drive. everyone on earth should have a chance to drive a Porsche at one point of time in there lives.Jun 25, 2008
