This is the ultimate daily driver, if your daily routine doesn't include anything
above 60mph. Italian styling, german functionality, the car is engineered to be
a real economy sports car. 27mpg shows you which one of these the Scirocco
does better.
I haven't driven a funner, more entertaining car in my life. No doubt my most
favorite car of all time.Mar 27, 2013

i owned a 83 scirocco, had the 1.8 8v engine and a 5spd transmission. drove really well and handling was really nice. the 8v engine did not have very much power, mine probably maxed out at 85 mph. it did do very well on inclines on highways. did not flinch on a up hill climb. very rare little sporty car. had TONS of complements on it and it was mistaked for a Delorean Many times lol. i recently sold mine because the engine was going down hill. the only cons to this car is the 8v engine. If you do get a classic Scirocco look for a 16 valve engine! they are much more powerful! Mar 18, 2012

I love this car so much.
I bought this Scirocco non-running a year ago with 180,000 miles. It has been a reliable daily driver. I always have a smile on when I take it out. I am currently working on restoring this car back to stock condition.
PERFORMANCE: As previously stated, this car is almost 100% stock from the factory. Nevertheless, it handles like it is on rails. This is not a 16v Scirocco, but because it is such a light car acceleration is not disappointing one bit. It has a great exhaust tone that sounds unique.
BUILD QUALITY: I have been very pleased with the craftsmanship of this car. It is 25 years old, and there is little to know rust, even after several harsh winters here in Ohio.
APPEARANCE: Either you like it or you don't. As you might be able to tell, the Scirocco was designed by the same man who designed the DeLorean.
COST OF OWNERSHIP: As stated above, this car was not running when I purchased it. However, the parts are very cheap. I have spent only $500 in total parts on this car since the purchase (including typical maintenance parts)
FUN FACTOR: This car is simply amazing to drive. You have to drive one to understand.
I would recommend this car to anyone who enjoys automobiles and is somewhat comfortable with working on cars.Nov 09, 2008
