my 1983 280zx 2-seater is a fantastic car to drive and a great peek at the past. An early 1980s car with only 65,000 miles is a great example of a car that beat the Porsche 944 and the corvette that year is a race. Prices are all over the place these days, from $20k for a great example with 100,000 miles on it to $2,000 dollars for the same example of the car, it just depends on who is shopping and what they want to pay.Dec 03, 2024

There was nothing bad to say about this car at all. Handles like a true sports car, accelerated very well and was extemely comfortable on long trips. A true GT car. I am over 6 feet tall and had plenty of room. Apr 04, 2012

Bought the car with my debit card while i was on leave from Iraq, and immediately
fell in love. Keep an eye out on the spark plugs, though if you upgrade to
platinums, you will need the buy an MSD ignition box- the stock box just doesn't
have to power.
Get ready for compliments! There arent that many left and those that have the
cars generally tend to love them. Also, get ready for "I had one back in _____"Jun 18, 2010

It handles great, but is a little underpowered. needs some body repair but its a blast to drive. Gas mileage could be better, but it could also be alot worse. there's alot of aftermarket support for this and earlier model z's.Oct 13, 2009

great classic zcar. make sure you get the turbo motor with the
five-speed gearbox. the engine is easy to work on and the car
is fun to drive. I had a blast with this car when i owned mine.
these cars can be had for very little money if you are willing to
put a little work into them. I highly recommend owning one for
anyone looking for a good "driver's car"Aug 06, 2009

Fruitcups often think the 280zx is the worst car of the series. Stupidity. The extra weight gained is due to the air conditioning, and full power options. Also, engine power measurements changed from gross to net hp during the Z era. How many cars do you know were made in the late 70's that had electric mirrors, windows and surround sound?
If you dont understand gross and net horsepower, should you be here?Aug 02, 2009

Please. It's a classic. What's not to love? And by the way, it's a Datsun, not a Nissan. It even holds up by todays standards, cornering like a fiend and having just the right amount of power to come out of a corner strong but not so much that you produce wheel spin. It's relatively cheap to maintain, great looking, good sounding unique piece of corvette eatin' history. Nov 15, 2008

the paint i think might be original on mine, and the body is gorgeous. the 2800 cc straight-six only puts out 153 ponies from the factory, but the car only weighs 2400 lbs, so there isn't all that much to push. Another advantage of being so light is the handling, which is amazing, even on mid-grade tires. the braking is great. i have never locked the tires up (has no ABS). the grand luxury trim is LOADED with so many things that were ahead of its time. Many of the features still aren't standard on many modern cars. would recommend to any classic Asian sport scar lover!Aug 26, 2008

This car has great handling, and although it's acceleration is not spectacular, its still better than your average car. My particular one is in poor condition cosmetically, but the engine runs great and sounds great. In general, though, the car looks awesome, specifically the later models. I would definitely reccomend this car, lots of fun and a great car.Jul 16, 2008

The engine has been bored out from a 2.8 to a 3.1. Racing cam, stage two racing clutch, cool air intake, and a turbo set to 7.2lbs.Jun 11, 2008

One of many sports cars my dad owned way back when. Leather seats, power everything, cassette player, A/C, powerful V6 engine, and a friendly female voice to remind you when ur door is open or "ajar".Apr 16, 2008

The Sebring wasn't listed so I had to call it a Nissan which is where the engine comes from.Jan 05, 2008
