I bought this car and it was barely running. It needed a paintjob and a whole lot of elbow grease. The engine is a twinport 1600, it was overhauled and new gearbox mountings were fitted. I bought this car for using it offroad. And I must say it really did a great job!Jan 02, 2012

The looks are what I love the most! The build quality is german in every sense. The engine only puts out about 40hp but this car isn't meant for speed it was made for the love of the drive. Beutiful!Jan 17, 2011

The beetle is a pretty good car all around,it could use things like a/c,and a heater that doesn't suck the hot air off the exhaust manifold...Does really well on bad roads, really fantastic on snow and ice. Vw's are pretty sturdy, and rarely have big issues...but when they do have something major...be prepaired for a project that will take days... The engine is really good,on gas if properly tuned...I get 34mpg,its not very fast top speed is about 83mph,has superb handling very light and tight. Very sturdy suspension. and VERY VERY FUN to drive/own lots of thumbs up and peace signs.Sep 01, 2010

Performance - Pretty poor with slow acceleration and speed of 125 km/h however unbeatable tracking to go on sand and snow for a 2 wheel drive.
Build Quality - Robust chassis and undestroyable engine. Noisy brakes.
Appearance - Awesome exterior in beautiful red. Characteristic interior.
Cost of ownership. Low as spare parts were all used. Mileage average.
Fun Factor. 100 out of 100. Truly super fun to spin rear wheels, to go off road jumping on the beak dunes. Jan 10, 2010

Another convertible I owned. A very nice classic car even tho it's slow, no a/c and 4 gears transmission. I still enjoy very much driving this convertible bug. Beetle is very easy to fix and cheap on cost. I wish I can own another beetle convertible someday.Dec 30, 2009

This little beast will get you from point A to point B. It will do it very slowly, but you will never have more fun. This car will break down a lot, and you will love it for it. If you've ever driven or owned one, you can't possibly argue with that.Sep 29, 2009

Was built from scratch in 2006 by my family, the first day on the road it was used for our daughters prom, mechanically is a standard 1300cc, bodywork is also standard apart from the Herbie decals.
The latest thing to be added to this car is the AL TASHA number plateAug 13, 2008

Fond memories of; always being cold in winter, with the Bug never warming til the last 2 minutes of any journey; dancing on the pedals and using the hand brake to ensure it didn''t stall on cold mornings; always started, didn't always keep going but always started; on wet days when turning left, you'd wait 10 seconds and sure enough a drip would hit your neck from the 'factory'fitted sunroof; preying for a downhil and wind behind you; an altogether swiss cheese of a car, but i loved her dearly.Jan 14, 2008
