There's nothing like your first car. It was sporty and fun to drive. Also very reliable and good on gas. I loved the way those raised white letter Goodyear's looked! I still think of it and miss it to this day.May 25, 2013

I was 20 years old on January 29, 1976, when I bought Car, a
brand new red Celica GT for $5,400, including tax. I'm now
53 and in the ensuing 33 years have moved 14 times, had 9
jobs, owned 4 Volvos, lived with 3 meaningful men and had
1 baby girl who came home from UCSF in Car 17 years ago.
Three of my houses burned, almost all of my employers went
out of business, 2 men left and my husband died January 29,
2005, on Cars' 29th birthday. My daughter, my red 2006
Volvo T5 and Car are all that is left and are still going strong.
They say you don't plant a chestnut tree for yourself, but for
your grandchildren. I think I bought Car for mine.May 16, 2009

This one belonged to two of my friends before me. It was undewr a grand, $800 I think. It had high mileage, and would have kept going I think, And then there was this telephone pole. Bad driving, really bad that day.Jul 02, 2008

My blue 1976 Celica LT2000 coupe was my first car and never let me down once.
Built back in the day when style wasn't a dirty word at Toyota, "Eva" was a beauty whose performance didn't quite live up to her appearance (like most Celicas) but was still able to get me up to 170 km/h on 1 or 2 occasions.
Survived being rear-ended at low speed thanks to chrome bumpers.
5 speed manual gearbox was pretty good for a car bult in the mid-70s - it's still as many gears as you need.
Ah, you never forget your first.

1976 Ra23 Celica
Bought this off a guy that apparently had a prang at 60km/h... Was still a shoe
stuck in the passenger side of the car crushed by the wheel. ouch... Car is no
cut in half. back half will eventually become an outdoor seat, and the boot will
be hinged to open backward with an eski or fridge in it.Dec 27, 2007

solid, reliable first car that was easy to work on regarding repairs. Susceptable to rust in the pillars. Sports exhaust system made her sound good and a bit more economical.Dec 27, 2007

I was on autotrader.com and there was a 1976 toyota celica in very good condition for $2400 and only 100 miles away. Drove it home, nice ride. Interior, out standing. motor, needs a tune up. Looks like 121,000 miles. Not hert. Somebody took care of this car for a long time. Also it looks like some kids put a paint job on it years ago. I'm doing some touch up on it for now. New paint in the future. Had a Pro clasic check it out and He said outstanding. Some issues though. Nothing major. Looked for parts for this car and was surprised, carborator for $199, distrubutor $69, struts for $36, plugs, plug wires, turmostat, bought all of it. Having fun cherrying it out. Oct 04, 2006
