One of the most fun cars I've ever owned. Great car to teach my kids to work on. Parts are cheap and easy to find. I'm sure this will not be the last bug i own. I've been wanting to try a baja version of this car.Oct 28, 2014

Surprised everything seemed to work okay. the automatic stickshift took some getting used to (always looking for a clutch pedal) Trouble was we were so poor, a large battery was installed under the backseat. Attempts to insulate this battery created fuel for the fire. It was competely roasted. At the tow yard my set of keys survived, and the motor was still good, if you had a use for one.Feb 03, 2013

Love the style, the fun,the attention given whereever I go, comfort not primery here, long life if maintained, attention to valve adjustment every 3000 miles is not an option, a must do for long life along with oil changes, easy engines to rebuildMay 03, 2010

performance: handling is good
Build Quality: strong body & suspension
Appearance: Poor in interior & Strange shape in exterior
Cost of Ownership: Gas mileage is Mid ,Maintenance need more than any car to take good performance.
Fun Factor - It is very fun car to drive and has a good style.

Mine was rusted completely out. But so cool anyway. I love driving them. They are very different from anything else I have ever driven. Kind of sporty, but not fast. They are very cheap to own and very reliable. They are great fun!Jul 08, 2009

Likes:
Engineering, build quality, durabillity, fun-ness, efficiency, ease-of-use and repair, classic appeal and popularity, space considering it's actual width/length, layout of the dash and space-saving simplicity of the whole car design, light weight, easy to handle and light steering
Dislikes:
Being worried about the cooling efficiency on a hot summers day.
The rattles the engine makes.
Being easy to break into
Being blown off the road by a strong gust of wind

former road race car. custom tube chassis with GM 4-wheel disc brakes, not much stock left to it, veery low stance, tight steering & suspension, very unique looking, definitely not a daily driver but should be quite fun to drive.Jan 23, 2009

I love my bug since puting the 1835 engine in it its a lot more fun to drive although it does need a full resto. When you drive a bug your always happy even when they break down t can stll make you smile all in alll i love my beetle.Nov 14, 2008

I will be able to drive it once I learn, but untill then my dad drives it. It is a deep blue with metal flake and looks totally awesome. I want to get flames put on the hood. I am hoping to learn how to do that soon. I just can't wait to drive it!!Oct 28, 2008

This car is fun to drive and has a huge amount of character. It is cheap to buy and run. It is easy to work on and almost faultlessly reliable. The Australian-delivered 1500 Beetle came with front disc brakes, so the car stops very well. My only criticisms are understeer in low speed corners and the fact that it is a little bit slow and could use another 25 or 30 horsepower, but that's nothing that a new hotted-up engine won't fix!Sep 24, 2008

1970 VW bug was a gift, the parts are relatively inexpensive, it's the labor that gets me. I would like to learn how to fix my own problems, but where would I go to sign-up.Feb 23, 2007

The 1970 Beetle is so great to drive, she has a bit of guts and is sooo easy to take care of. Fully restored the only real additions required are a good wide set of tyres and a cool stereo.Feb 15, 2007
