What should I look for when buying a used Mazda CX-5?

Key things to evaluate:

• Safety package: adaptive cruise control with speed limit assist, automatic emergency braking with turn-across traffic detection and head-on collision mitigation, rear automatic emergency braking with rear cross-traffic alert and pedestrian detection, lane keep assist, blind spot monitors, vehicle exit warning, driver attention alert, traffic sign recognition, front and rear parking sensors, and dynamic guidelines for the mandatory rear-view camera.

• Fuel efficiency: Natural Resources Canada rates the CX-5 at 9.9 litres per 100 kilometres in the city, 7.9 on the highway, and 9.0 combined.

Which Mazda CX-5 trim should I buy?

The 2026 Mazda CX-5 offers these trims:

• GX: the entry trim brings standard AWD, Google built-in, a 12.9-inch touchscreen, and a comprehensive safety suite, making it the value-focused starting point.

What Mazda CX-5 do most buyers choose?

The Mazda CX-5 years with the most listings are 2024, 2025, and 2023.

These higher-volume model years tend to attract more shoppers because they offer a strong mix of availability, newer features, and pricing that still sits below brand-new inventory. More listings also give you more room to compare trims, colours, and deal quality before you buy.

What is the Mazda CX-5's resale value?

Most Mazda CX-5 model years are moving lower year over year, which is good news if you are shopping used and want more value for your money. The steepest drops are concentrated in older and mid-cycle years, while the newest model years are easing down more gradually. That pattern gives you a wider range of price points to choose from, depending on how much you want to spend.

The 2025, 2017, and 2015 model years have held their value best, with the smallest year-over-year price changes.
