The Lexus RX's current nationwide average price is $43,203 CAD, and its lowest point over the past year was $39,446 CAD. Recently, prices have come down for the 2023, 2024, and 2025 models, making now a good time to shop recent model years.
Is the Lexus RX a good car?
Yes — the Lexus RX is a strong used luxury SUV choice if you want comfort, refinement, and long-term appeal. The all-generations owner rating is 4.66/5 across every model year in the data.
Owners consistently praise the RX for its comfortable ride, quiet cabin, and upscale interior feel. Reliability is another recurring strength, and many shoppers also value the RX for its smooth, easygoing character and strong overall ownership experience.
Expert reviews rate the 2020 and 2022 models among the highest across all years.
The main trade-offs across recent expert-tested years centre on performance that feels more relaxed than energetic, some infotainment systems that take time to get used to, and styling that can divide opinion. Even so, the RX remains a well-rounded luxury SUV for buyers who prioritise comfort and dependability.

Are Lexus RX models reliable?
Owners and experts consistently point to the Lexus RX’s comfort, refinement, and long-term dependability as core strengths. The model’s quiet cabin, smooth ride, and upscale feel also come through repeatedly in owner feedback across the years.
- Owners rate the Lexus RX between 4.33 and 5.0 out of 5 stars across all model years in the data.
For used buyers, the main long-term ownership risk is choosing a higher-mileage example without a clear service history, since condition and maintenance matter most as these SUVs age.
What should I look for when buying a used Lexus RX?
Key things to evaluate:
- Safety package: Lexus Safety System+ 3.0, with adaptive cruise control, forward collision warning with automatic emergency braking, lane-keep assist, blind-spot monitoring with rear cross-traffic alert, a rear passenger safe-exit system, and parking proximity sensors.
- Infotainment: A 9.8-inch touchscreen in lower-priced configurations or a 14-inch display in higher-end models, plus wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto.
- Fuel efficiency: The RX 350h hybrid is estimated at 6.5 L/100 km combined, the RX 500h at 8.6 L/100 km combined, and the RX 450h+ at 2.8 litres-equivalent per 100 kilometres combined with 60 kilometres of electric-only range.
Which Lexus RX trim should I buy?
The 2024 Lexus RX offers these trims:
- RX 350: The entry point uses a turbocharged 2.4-litre four-cylinder engine with 275 horsepower and 317 pound-feet of torque, an eight-speed automatic transmission, and standard AWD. It suits you if you want the most accessible way into the RX lineup.
- RX 350h: This hybrid adds a 2.5-litre four-cylinder engine with 246 hp and 233 lb-ft of torque, plus a CVT and strong fuel efficiency. It is the best-value trim for many buyers because it balances efficiency and everyday usability.
- RX 500h F Sport Performance: This performance-focused model adds 366 hp and 406 lb-ft of torque, along with a six-speed automatic transmission. It suits you if you want the most powerful RX in the lineup.
- RX 450h+: The plug-in hybrid adds an 18.1-kWh battery pack, 304 hp, and up to 60 kilometres of electric-only range. It suits you if you can charge regularly and want the most electrified RX.
What Lexus RX do most buyers choose?
The Lexus RX years with the most listings are 2025, 2023, and 2024.

|---|---|---|
| 2025 | 238 | 37% |
| 2023 | 232 | 32.3% |
| 2024 | 211 | 31.3% |
| 2022 | 140 | 24.3% |
| 2026 | 122 | 36.9% |
| 2021 | 115 | 33% |
These higher-volume years tend to be the most popular because they give you more inventory to compare and more chances to find a well-priced example. They also usually reflect the model years that shoppers are cross-shopping most actively.
What is the Lexus RX's resale value?
| Model Year | Current Avg. Price | Year-Over-Year Change |

| 2021 | $42,759 CAD | −0.54% |
| 2015 | $22,290 CAD | +2.06% |
Most Lexus RX model years are posting price declines year over year, and several of those drops are double-digit. That pattern is helpful for used buyers because it opens up more value in recent and older model years alike. A few years are falling only slightly, while one year is moving up, which shows that demand remains steady across the lineup.
The 2021 model year is holding steady, with prices close to flat year-over-year.
The 2015, 2021, and 2020 model years have held their value best, with the smallest year-over-year price changes.

Reviewed a 2024 Lexus RX on Aug 9, 2024
Was not expecting to buy this car. Had pretty well made up my mind on another brand in the same class .Had bought that brand before. A test drive of the RX done out of curiosity before finalizing the other purchase ,coupled with a detailed comparison unexpectedly changed my mind and I never went back to the other brand. Love this car. The style, the performance ,the price and the safety features does it all for me.
