Which Jeep Grand Cherokee trim should I buy?

The 2026 Jeep Grand Cherokee offers these trims:

• Laredo: The entry trim keeps the Pentastar 3.6-litre V6, eight-speed automatic, and standard 4WD, making it the value-focused starting point.
• Laredo X: This trim continues with the Pentastar 3.6-litre V6 and eight-speed automatic, while adding the expected step-up from the base Laredo.
• Altitude: This trim adds leatherette upholstery and sits above the cloth-upholstered Laredo models.
• Limited: This trim builds on the leatherette-equipped Altitude with more equipment and a more upscale feel.
• 85th Anniversary: This trim adds leatherette and commemorative positioning within the lineup.
• Limited Reserve: This trim brings genuine leather upholstery and a more premium cabin, making it a strong pick for shoppers who want the best-value upscale feel.
• Summit: This top trim adds genuine leather upholstery, a 19-speaker McIntosh audio system, a 10.2-inch front-passenger touchscreen, height-adjustable air suspension, and Quadra-Drive II 4WD with a two-speed transfer case.

What Jeep Grand Cherokee do most buyers choose?

The Jeep Grand Cherokee years with the most listings are 2022, 2020, and 2021.

These higher-volume years tend to be popular because they give you more listings to compare, which can make it easier to find the right trim, mileage, and condition. They also often sit in the sweet spot between newer features and more accessible pricing.

What is the Jeep Grand Cherokee's resale value?

Most model years are down year over year, which is good news if you’re shopping used because it creates more room for value. The largest drops are concentrated in older and newer examples alike, while a few years are falling more slowly and one is moving up slightly.

The 2014, 2023, and 2019 model years have held their value best, with the smallest year-over-year price changes.

Should I buy a used Jeep Grand Cherokee now or wait for the next model?

Buy now if:

• Price trend: The 2025 model is at −13.06% versus a year ago, and the 2024 model is at −19.64%.
• Deal availability: The 2025 model has 31.7% good and great deals, and the 2024 model has 31.9%.
• Sweet-spot year: The 2022 model has the most listings at a current average price of $33,540 CAD. The Jeep Grand Cherokee offers a rare mix of comfort, style, and real off-road capability that makes it easy to live with every day.

Consider waiting if:

• Powertrain/efficiency: The latest Grand Cherokee pairs a Hurricane 4 Turbo with 324 horsepower and 332 pound-feet of torque, while the Pentastar V6 delivers 293 hp and 260 lb-ft, and Jeep expects fuel economy as low as 8.7 litres per 100 kilometres combined.
• Tech: The latest model adds a larger 12.3-inch touchscreen on higher trims, wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, and available night vision plus a low-angle off-road camera.
• Safety: The latest model improves Active Drive Assist so it transitions more smoothly to lower levels of automation when needed.
• Starting price: The Laredo trim starts at $59,995 CAD.

If you're buying used today, the 2022 model year offers the best mix of value and availability. If you want the latest tech and features, it may be worth waiting for the next model year's inventory to build up.
