What should I look for when buying a used Hyundai Elantra?

Key things to evaluate:

• Safety package: Hyundai SmartSense suite, with forward braking assist, lane keep assist, lane departure warning, lane following assist, automatic high beams, and a driver attention monitor; Preferred-grade models add blind spot monitoring, rear cross-traffic alert, and safe exit assist.
• Infotainment: 8-inch touchscreen on Essential and Preferred trims, with a 10.25-inch touchscreen standard on Luxury and above; the smaller screen supports wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto.
• Fuel efficiency: The Elantra Hybrid is rated at 4.8 litres per 100 kilometres in the city, 4.5 on the highway, and 4.7 combined; non-hybrid trims are rated at 7.7 L/100 km city, 5.9 highway, and 6.9 combined for the base engine, and 8.3/6.8/7.6 for the N Line Ultimate.

Which Hyundai Elantra trim should I buy?

The 2024 Hyundai Elantra offers these trims:

• Essential: The entry trim gives you the core Elantra experience with the 2.0-litre engine and the model’s value-first approach.
• Preferred: This is the best-value trim for many shoppers because it adds blind spot monitoring, rear cross-traffic alert, and safe exit assist.
• Luxury: This trim adds the 10.25-inch touchscreen, digital instrument panel, Bose audio, wireless charging, and Highway Driving Assist.
• Luxury Hybrid: This version adds the hybrid powertrain while keeping the Luxury trim’s equipment mix.
• N Line Ultimate: This trim adds the 1.6-litre turbo engine, seven-speed dual-clutch automatic, sportier hardware, and the most expressive design treatment.
• N: The performance-focused model adds the 276-horsepower turbocharged setup and the most aggressive driving character.

What Hyundai Elantra do most buyers choose?

The Hyundai Elantra years with the most listings are 2024, 2025, and 2023.

These higher-volume years tend to be the most popular used picks because they give you more inventory to compare, which can make it easier to find the right trim, colour, and price. They also sit close to the current generation, so you get newer features and a broader spread of equipment choices.

What is the Hyundai Elantra's resale value?

Most Elantra model years are down by double digits year over year, which creates better buying opportunities for used shoppers. The newer years in the table are also falling, so recent-model inventory is becoming more attractive without needing to step far back in age. A few older years are declining less sharply, which suggests they have been a bit steadier in the market.

The 2016, 2015, and 2023 model years have held their value best, with the smallest year-over-year price changes.
