What GMC Sierra 1500 do most buyers choose?

The GMC Sierra 1500 years with the most listings are 2024, 2025, and 2023.

These higher-volume model years tend to be the most popular because they give you more inventory to compare and a wider spread of prices and equipment. That usually makes it easier to find a truck that fits your budget and feature priorities.

What is the GMC Sierra 1500's resale value?

Most model years are showing double-digit year-over-year price declines, which creates more room for used buyers to find value. The pattern is broadly consistent across the lineup, with every listed year moving lower rather than higher. The smallest drops are still meaningful, but they are less severe than the steepest declines in the table.

The 2018, 2023, and 2022 model years have held their value best, with the smallest year-over-year price changes.

Is the GMC Sierra 1500 safe?

• 2024: 6/10
• 2023: 9/10
• 2022: 7/10
• 2021: 4/10

For the safest used buy, the 2023 model posts the highest confirmed score of 9/10.

Should I buy a used GMC Sierra 1500 now or wait for the next model?

Buy now if:

• Price trend: The 2026 model is at −14.3% versus a year ago, and the 2025 model is at −11.49%.

Consider waiting if:

• Powertrain/efficiency: the latest model offers a 2.7-litre turbocharged four-cylinder engine dubbed TurboMax that produces 310 horsepower and 430 pound-feet of torque, plus a 6.2-litre V8 that makes 420 hp and 460 lb-ft.

• Safety: Denali and Denali Ultimate models can be equipped with Super Cruise, GM’s hands-free driver-assistance system, and the latest test vehicle also had Super Cruise active lane-change.
• Starting price: $48,829 CAD for a base Pro model with RWD and no frills.

If you're buying used today, the 2024 model year offers the best mix of value and availability. If you want the latest tech and features, it may be worth waiting for the next model year's inventory to build up.
