What should I look for when buying a used BMW 2 Series?

Key things to evaluate:

• Safety package: forward collision warning with automatic emergency braking, blind-spot monitoring, lane-departure warning, front and rear parking proximity sensors, and a semi-automated parking system
• Infotainment: a 10.7-inch infotainment touchscreen with wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, plus a wireless charging pad and Harman Kardon premium sound system

Which BMW 2 Series trim should I buy?

The 2025 BMW 2 Series offers these trims:

• 228 xDrive Gran Coupe: the sole Canadian model in this year’s lineup, with a 2.0-litre turbocharged four-cylinder, 241 horsepower, all-wheel drive, and a seven-speed dual-clutch automatic; it suits you if you want the most accessible way into the range with standard tech and safety equipment.
• M235 xDrive Gran Coupe: the performance-oriented version referenced in the expert review, adding a more aggressive setup and a stronger focus on driving character; it suits you if you want the sportiest feel in the 2025 Gran Coupe family.

What BMW 2 Series do most buyers choose?

The BMW 2 Series years with the most listings are 2025, 2026, and 2024.

Higher-volume years usually give you more choice in trims, colours, and price points, which makes it easier to compare listings side by side. They also tend to be the years shoppers cross-shop most often, so you can often find a broader spread of deal quality.

What is the BMW 2 Series's resale value?

Most model years in the table are down year over year, which is good news if you’re shopping used because it creates more room for value. The biggest drops are concentrated in older and mid-cycle examples, while the newest years are changing much less. That pattern suggests recent inventory is still relatively firm, but there are still meaningful savings available across much of the range.

The 2026, 2024, and 2021 model years have held their value best, with the smallest year-over-year price changes.

Is the BMW 2 Series safe?

• 2025: 6/10
• 2022: 8/10

The 2025 BMW 2 Series Gran Coupe comes with standard advanced safety and driver assistance features such as forward collision warning with automatic emergency braking, blind-spot monitoring, lane-departure warning, front and rear parking proximity sensors, and a semi-automated parking system.

For the safest used buy, the 2022 model posts the highest confirmed score of 8/10.
