Are BMW 2 Series models reliable?

Owners consistently give the BMW 2 Series very strong marks, and the review summaries repeatedly point to its performance, handling, and sporty character as standout strengths. The expert commentary also reinforces that the car’s appeal comes from its engaging driving feel and premium cabin experience.

• Owners rate the BMW 2 Series between 4.7 and 5 out of 5 stars across all model years in the data.

For used buyers, long-term ownership risk is mainly tied to premium-car running costs, so it makes sense to budget carefully for maintenance and fuel.

What should I look for when buying a used BMW 2 Series?

Key things to evaluate:

• Safety package: forward collision warning with automatic emergency braking, blind-spot monitoring, lane-departure warning, front and rear parking proximity sensors, and a semi-automated parking system
• Infotainment: a 10.7-inch infotainment touchscreen with wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, plus a wireless charging pad and Harman Kardon premium sound system

Which BMW 2 Series trim should I buy?

The 2025 BMW 2 Series offers these trims:

• 228 xDrive Gran Coupe: the sole Canadian model in this year’s expert review, with standard all-wheel drive, a seven-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission, adaptive dampers, a 10.7-inch infotainment touchscreen, wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, a wireless charging pad, and a Harman Kardon premium sound system; best for buyers who want the most affordable entry into the range with a strong equipment list.

What BMW 2 Series do most buyers choose?

The BMW 2 Series years with the most listings are 2025, 2026, and 2024.

These higher-volume years tend to attract more shoppers because they offer a broader mix of pricing, equipment, and availability. When more listings are on the market, you also get a better chance of finding the right colour, trim, and condition for your budget.

What is the BMW 2 Series's resale value?

Most BMW 2 Series model years in the table are down year over year, which is good news if you’re shopping used and want to benefit from lower asking prices. The newest model years are changing the least, while older examples show much steeper drops. That pattern gives you a wider spread of value depending on how recent you want your 2 Series to be.

The 2026, 2024, and 2018 model years have held their value best, with the smallest year-over-year price changes.

Is the BMW 2 Series safe?

• 2025: 6/10
• 2022: 8/10

The 2025 BMW 2 Series Gran Coupe comes with standard advanced safety and driver assistance features such as forward collision warning with automatic emergency braking, blind-spot monitoring, lane-departure warning, front and rear parking proximity sensors, and a semi-automated parking system.
