What should I look for when buying a used Volvo XC90?

Key things to evaluate:

• Safety package: City Safety, Pilot Assist, and a 360-degree camera system.
• Infotainment: Vertical touchscreen infotainment with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto.

Which Volvo XC90 trim should I buy?

The 2025 Volvo XC90 offers these trims:

• Core: The entry point in the lineup, with the standard mild-hybrid setup and the XC90’s core luxury and safety features; a strong starting point if you want the model’s main strengths at the lowest price.
• Plus: Adds more equipment over Core and is the best-value choice for many shoppers who want a richer feature set without moving all the way to the top trim.
• Ultra: Brings the most premium cabin experience, including the top-end audio and the most upscale interior materials, making it the right pick if you want the fullest luxury treatment.

What Volvo XC90 do most buyers choose?

The Volvo XC90 years with the most listings are 2025, 2023, and 2024.

These higher-volume years tend to be the most popular used picks because they give you more inventory to compare and more chances to find the right price, trim, and condition. They also sit close to the sweet spot where newer features and broader availability overlap.

What is the Volvo XC90's resale value?

Most XC90 model years are showing clear year-over-year price declines, which is good news if you’re shopping used. The newer years are still falling, but the drops are smaller than the older ones in the table. That pattern suggests you can find meaningful value across the lineup, especially if you focus on recent model years.

The 2023, 2024, and 2016 model years have held their value best, with the smallest year-over-year price changes.

Is the Volvo XC90 safe?

• 2025: 8/10
• 2024: 6/10
