Are Volkswagen Tiguan models reliable?

What should I look for when buying a used Volkswagen Tiguan?

Key things to evaluate:

• Safety package: forward collision warning with automatic emergency braking, adaptive cruise control, a blind-spot monitor with rear cross-traffic alert, lane-keep assist, safe passenger exit warnings, parking sensors, automatic high beams, Emergency Assist, and post-collision braking
• Infotainment: a digital instrument panel and a 12.9-inch infotainment touchscreen with standard wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, plus a standard wireless phone charger

Which Volkswagen Tiguan trim should I buy?

The 2025 Volkswagen Tiguan offers these trims:

• Trendline: the base trim comes very well equipped and gives you the Tiguan’s core comfort, quiet cabin, digital instrument panel, 12.9-inch touchscreen, and standard 4Motion all-wheel drive.
• Comfortline: adds more niceties while keeping the Tiguan’s comfortable, refined character intact.
• Comfortline R-Line: adds the sport appearance package for shoppers who want a more distinctive look.
• Highline R-Line: the top trim adds the 15-inch display, native navigation, head-up display, surround-view camera system, traffic sign reader, and illuminated VW badge and light bar; it suits buyers who want the most features in the range.

What Volkswagen Tiguan do most buyers choose?

The Volkswagen Tiguan years with the most listings are 2025, 2023, and 2024.

These higher-volume years tend to attract more shoppers because they offer a wider selection and more recent features. They also give you more chances to compare prices and equipment across listings.

What is the Volkswagen Tiguan's resale value?

Most Tiguan model years show double-digit price declines year over year, which can work in your favour if you’re shopping used. The newer models are still falling, but the pace is less severe than many of the older years in the table. That creates a useful window for buyers who want recent features without paying new-car pricing.

The 2025, 2022, and 2017 model years have held their value best, with the smallest year-over-year price changes.

Is the Volkswagen Tiguan safe?

• 2025: 6/10
• 2024: 8/10
• 2023: 9/10
• 2022: 9/10

For the safest used buy, the 2022 and 2023 models both post the highest confirmed score of 9/10.
