What should I look for when buying a used Toyota Tacoma?

Key things to evaluate:

Which Toyota Tacoma trim should I buy?

The 2024 Toyota Tacoma offers these trims:

• TRD Sport: Sport-tuned shocks add a more road-focused feel while keeping the Tacoma’s everyday usability intact.
• TRD Off Road: Monotube Bilstein shocks and 17-inch off-road alloys bring extra trail-ready hardware for buyers who want a more adventure-focused setup.

What Toyota Tacoma do most buyers choose?

The Toyota Tacoma years with the most listings are 2024, 2023, and 2025.

Higher-volume years usually give you more choice in trims, colours, and pricing, which makes it easier to compare listings and find a truck that fits your budget. They also tend to be the years shoppers cross-shop most often, so the market around them is usually more active.

What is the Toyota Tacoma's resale value?

Most Tacoma model years are down year over year, which is good news if you are shopping used and want to benefit from softer pricing. The largest drops are concentrated in the newer and older ends of the range, while several mid-cycle years show smaller declines. That pattern suggests the Tacoma remains in demand, but buyers still have room to find value depending on the year they choose.

The 2018, 2023, and 2019 model years have held their value best, with the smallest year-over-year price changes.
