What should I look for when buying a used Toyota RAV4 Hybrid?

Key things to evaluate:

• Fuel efficiency: The RAV4 Hybrid is powered by a 2.5-litre four-cylinder engine paired with an electric motor/generator. They're mated to a continuously variable transmission (CVT) that drives the front wheels. A second electric motor between the rear axle provides all-wheel drive (AWD). Combined, they produce power specs of 219 horsepower and accelerate the RAV4 to 100 kilometres per hour in a respectable 7.5 seconds (approximately). Most drivers will never need to floor the pedal unless they're trying to merge with highway traffic on a steep uphill ramp.

Which Toyota RAV4 Hybrid trim should I buy?

The 2023 Toyota RAV4 Hybrid offers these trims:

• Hybrid LE AWD: The entry trim starts the range and gives you the core hybrid setup, Toyota Safety Sense 2.5, wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, and the new multimedia system. It is the best-value trim for shoppers who want the essentials.
• Hybrid XLE AWD: This trim adds more comfort and convenience equipment, and it is a strong step up if you want a more complete daily driver.
• Hybrid SE AWD: This trim adds a sportier character and sits above the mainstream comfort-focused versions.
• Hybrid XSE AWD: This trim adds a more premium feel, and the available technology package brings extra equipment for shoppers who want more features.
• Hybrid Limited AWD: This trim adds the most upscale equipment in the range, including front and rear parking proximity sensors with automatic braking when backing up, a surround-view camera system, and a digital rearview mirror.
