What should I look for when buying a used Toyota Corolla?

Key things to evaluate:

• Safety package: Toyota Safety Sense 3.0, with forward collision warning, pedestrian detection, automatic emergency braking, lane departure warning, lane keeping assist, lane centring assist, adaptive cruise control, automatic high beam headlights, and a road sign recognition system.

• Infotainment: a larger 10.5-inch touchscreen infotainment system in the Corolla XSE, along with wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto.

• Fuel efficiency: Natural Resources Canada rates the gas-only Toyota Corolla at 6.7–6.8 litres per 100 kilometres combined, depending on the trim. Which Toyota Corolla trim should I buy?

The 2025 Toyota Corolla offers these trims:

• Corolla: The sweet-spot trim is the Corolla SE, which adds a sportier character and avoids the plain vanilla look of the base Corolla trims.

What Toyota Corolla do most buyers choose?

The Toyota Corolla years with the most listings are 2021, 2023, and 2022.

These higher-volume years tend to be popular because they give you a strong mix of availability, pricing, and familiar Corolla strengths. More listings also make it easier to compare trims and find a vehicle that fits your budget.

What is the Toyota Corolla's resale value?

Most Corolla model years in the table are down year over year, which can work in your favour if you are shopping used. The largest drops are in the newer model years, while older examples show smaller changes.
