What should I look for when buying a used Toyota Corolla?

Key things to evaluate:

• Fuel efficiency: Natural Resources Canada rates the gas-only Toyota Corolla at 6.7–6.8 litres per 100 kilometres combined, depending on the trim. That’s reasonably efficient, but you can save even more money on fuel by choosing the Toyota Corolla Hybrid. With FWD, it achieves fuel economy ratings of 4.7 L/100 km combined. Add on the available AWD, and those ratings go up slightly to between 4.9 and 5.3 L/100 km, depending on trim.
• Infotainment: Toyota now offers a larger 10.5-inch touchscreen infotainment system in the Corolla XSE, and in addition to wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, Toyota provides complimentary trial subscriptions to numerous helpful plans.
• Safety package: Toyota equips every 2025 Corolla with the Toyota Safety Sense 3.0 (TSS 3.0) collection of driver assistance systems.

Which Toyota Corolla trim should I buy?

The 2025 Toyota Corolla offers these trims:

• Corolla: The entry point brings the Corolla’s core strengths in a straightforward package, and it suits you if you want the most accessible way into the lineup.
• LE: This trim adds blind-spot monitoring, rear cross-traffic alert, and safe exit assist, making it a strong value choice for shoppers who want more everyday convenience and confidence.
• SE: This is the sweet-spot trim, adding a sportier character and avoiding the plain vanilla look of the base Corolla trims.
• XSE: This trim adds the larger 10.5-inch touchscreen infotainment system and sits at the top of the gas-only lineup.
• Hybrid: This version adds the Corolla Hybrid powertrain for better fuel efficiency.
• GR Corolla: This performance-focused model adds the most aggressive character in the range.

What Toyota Corolla do most buyers choose?

The Toyota Corolla years with the most listings are 2021, 2023, and 2022.

These higher-volume years tend to be popular because they give you a wider selection of trims, prices, and equipment levels. They also sit in the part of the lineup where the Corolla’s modern features and familiar ownership appeal are especially easy to find.

What is the Toyota Corolla's resale value?

Most Corolla model years in the table are down year over year, which is good news if you’re shopping used and want more value for your money. The largest drops are concentrated in the newer model years, while older examples show smaller changes. That pattern suggests you can often find stronger pricing on recent Corollas without giving up the model’s core appeal.

The 2016, 2014, and 2017 model years have held their value best, with the smallest year-over-year price changes.
