What should I look for when buying a used Toyota Camry?
Key things to evaluate:
- Safety package: Toyota Safety Sense 3.0 (TSS 3.0) is standard on every 2026 Camry and includes adaptive cruise control, forward collision warning, automatic emergency braking, pedestrian detection, lane departure warning, lane keep assist, lane centring assist, road sign assist, and high beam assist.
- Infotainment: Toyota equips the more affordable Camry models, including our Nightshade test car, with an 8-inch touchscreen infotainment system featuring wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto.
- Fuel efficiency: Fuel economy ranges from 5.0 to 5.5 litres per 100 kilometres in combined city and highway driving, depending on the trim level and drivetrain configuration.
Which Toyota Camry trim should I buy?
The 2026 Toyota Camry offers these trims:
- SE FWD: This is the entry point, and it gives you the Camry’s hybrid powertrain, plus the standard safety and infotainment equipment that define the model.
- SE Upgrade AWD: This trim adds all-wheel drive and is the best-value choice if you want the Camry’s core efficiency with extra traction.
- XLE AWD: This trim adds a more upscale feel and sits above the SE versions.
- XSE AWD: This trim adds the sportier character in the lineup, including the sport-tuned suspension mentioned in the expert review.
What Toyota Camry do most buyers choose?
The Toyota Camry years with the most listings are 2025, 2024, and 2026.

Is the Toyota Camry safe?
- 2026: 8/10
- 2025: 9/10

Toyota Safety Sense 3.0 (TSS 3.0) is standard on every 2026 Camry and includes adaptive cruise control, forward collision warning, automatic emergency braking, pedestrian detection, lane departure warning, lane keep assist, lane centring assist, road sign assist, and high beam assist.
For the safest used buy, the 2020, 2021, 2022 and 2025 models all post the highest confirmed score of 9/10.
Should I buy a used Toyota Camry now or wait for the next model?
Buy now if:
- Price trend: The 2025 model is at −13.88% versus a year ago, and the 2024 model is at −7.67%.
- Deal availability: The 2025 model has 36.7% good and great deals, and the 2024 model has 36.4%.
- Sweet-spot year: The 2025 model has the most listings at a current average price of $39,256 CAD. The Toyota Camry offers a comfortable, practical, and dependable driving experience that suits daily commuting and family use.
Consider waiting if:
- Powertrain/efficiency: The Camry ditched its 2.5-litre four-cylinder and 3.5-litre V6 engines as part of the 2025 model year update, leaving a tried-and-true hybrid system as the only powertrain; it combines a 2.5-litre four-cylinder engine with a pair of electric motors to produce 225 horsepower in front-wheel-drive models, while all-wheel drive versions add a third electric motor and bump total output to 232 hp.
- Tech: Toyota equips the more affordable Camry models with an 8-inch touchscreen infotainment system featuring wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, while the larger 12.3-inch touchscreen adds cloud-based navigation, destination assistance, and an Intelligent Assistant conversational voice recognition system.
- Safety: Toyota Safety Sense 3.0 is standard on every 2026 Camry and adds adaptive cruise control, forward collision warning, automatic emergency braking, pedestrian detection, lane departure warning, lane keep assist, lane centring assist, road sign assist, and high beam assist.
- Starting price: For the 2026 model year, the Camry is offered in Canada in four trim levels, with prices ranging from $36,935 to $47,690 including destination.
If you're buying used today, the 2025 model year offers the best mix of value and availability. If you want the latest tech and features, it may be worth waiting for the next model year's inventory to build up.

I absolutely love my 2021 Toyota Camry. From the moment I got it, I honestly fell in love with it. The car looks sporty and modern, but at the same time it’s very comfortable and smooth to drive. It feels reliable and safe, which gives me a lot of confidence, especially as someone still getting used to driving more often. The fuel efficiency is great, and the interior is clean and well-designed. Everything feels solid and easy to use. It’s definitely a great value for the price. If I had to mention something, I wish it had push-button start, but overall I’m extremely happy with my purchase. I would definitely recommend this car to anyone looking for something reliable, stylish, and comfortable.

A lot of people looking at a certain car for the lowest price end up getting the oldest/first year of a cars generation. Thats because its typically the least expensive year of that particular body style they are looking for. As someone whos sold many cars in the last decade I can assure you, that is typically a big mistake. They often have problems that automakers cant know about until thousands of people have driven them for tens of thousands of miles, or more. I wanted the most reliable car possible. Easy, right? Just buy a Toyota... right? No. Ive seen it with Toyota as well. Many times. So I purposely sought the most recent model year of a generation of cars that are widely considered the most reliable ever made. A 2017 Camry (non-hybrid), if treated well, can be counted on being driven for over 1 million miles without an engine rebuild. They are an engineering marvel of our time. The 2.5l 2AR-FE has to be the most bulletproof example of a gasoline engine to ever sit under a hood. The car itself is well designed and is a flawless performer in normal daily driving. The SE/XSEs in particular have a suspension that can take a quickly-turned corner without skipping a beat. The seats are very comfortable over long drives, but supportive when youre in the curves. It has large windows to avoid blind spots and has airbags in every direction. The crash tests show that its extraordinarily safe if the unthinkable occurs. Its simply a brilliant choice of car. And getting back to my first sentences, the 2017 model had it all nailed down after 6 years of getting closer and closer to perfection. Toyota could have gotten away with not redesigning it for several more years. Easily. However, being the most popular car in the United States is a challenge that requires not letting the customers get bored. So I suppose Ill forgive Toyota for not making the car longer. That said, any one of the years of the seventh generation Camry is a great car to own. But this last year is perfection. Its why I have one. Im proud & grateful to be the owner of a 2017 Camry SE. Ill likely drive it until the car or myself dies. Dont ask me which one will kick the bucket first though, because Im 42 and this engineering marvel of the auto world is only 7. Dont pass up a well treated one.

I absolutely love the features of my car. The push start, sunroof, heated seats, heated steering wheel, and Apple CarPlay are all fantastic. For the value, the car is a great choice. Being a Toyota, its built to last and is also very fuel-efficient. Both the exterior and interior are incredibly clean, which adds to its appeal. That said, there are a couple of things I wish were different. I’d love if the car had memory seats, and the display screen could be a bit more modern, especially compared to the ones in the Toyota Highlanders. Another small inconvenience is that, unlike the Highlanders where Apple CarPlay connects wirelessly through Bluetooth, my car requires the phone to be plugged in for CarPlay to work. While this isnt a huge issue, it would be more convenient if it were wireless like in the Highlanders. Overall, it’s a really cute car and an amazing choice for a first car. Im really happy with it!

CarGurus recommends the 2025 Toyota Camry

Summary
With 235 currently listed for sale and an average price of $39,351 CAD, 36.6% of 2025 Toyota Camry listings on CarGurus are rated as good or great deals.
Favourably reviewed: Owners rated the 2025 Toyota Camry 4.89 / 5 stars and CarGurus experts gave it an 8 / 10.
Why it stands out
The 2025 Toyota Camry kicks off its ninth generation as a now-hybrid-only midsize sedan, and that alone makes it distinctive. It brings a new look, new features, and a new hybrid powertrain for 2025, while continuing to lean on the reputation for reliability and safety that has helped make the Camry a perennial favourite among families. Toyota’s approach here is straightforward: give buyers up-to-date styling and technology, strong value, and a car that stays familiar enough to appeal to loyalists.
That formula is backed up by some clear strengths. The 2025 Toyota Camry is fuel-efficient, competitively priced, and offers all-wheel drive on every trim. It is also described as having excellent fuel economy and no fatal flaws that would likely push a brand loyalist away. The main drawbacks noted are a noisy engine and a finicky voice assistant, so while the Camry remains an easy car to recommend for shoppers who want efficiency and value, it is not entirely free of rough edges.
