| 2014 | $28,339 CAD | $28,339 CAD – $41,265 CAD |
The RAM 3500's current nationwide average price is $65,262 CAD, and its nationwide average price reached a low of $65,016 CAD over the past year. Recently, prices have come down for the 2023, 2024, and 2025 models, making now a good time to shop recent model years.
Is the RAM 3500 a good car?
Yes — the RAM 3500 is a strong choice if you want heavy-duty capability with a more comfortable, better-equipped cabin than many buyers expect from a one-ton truck. The all-generations owner rating is 4.67/5 across every model year in the data.
Owners repeatedly praise its towing strength, spacious interior, and comfort, and many also highlight the Cummins diesel engine and RamBox storage. Across the model years, the truck’s blend of serious work capability and everyday usability comes through clearly.
28.3% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
Are RAM 3500 models reliable?
Owners consistently praise the RAM 3500 for its strong towing performance, comfort, and heavy-duty capability, while expert and owner commentary also points to a truck that feels well suited to demanding work. The strongest feedback centres on its powertrain strength, spacious cabin, and overall usefulness as a tow rig.
- Owners rate the RAM 3500 between 4.0 and 5.0 out of 5 stars across all model years in the data.
For used buyers, long-term ownership risk is most closely tied to how the truck was used and maintained, especially on higher-mileage examples that have spent their lives towing or hauling.
What RAM 3500 do most buyers choose?
The RAM 3500 years with the most listings are 2023, 2024, and 2025.
| Model Year | Total Listings | Good + Great Deals % |
|---|---|---|
| 2023 | 448 | 33% |
| 2024 | 361 | 33.5% |
| 2025 | 339 | 29.5% |
| 2022 | 266 | 32.3% |
| 2021 | 217 | 27.2% |
| 2020 | 140 | 25.7% |
These higher-volume years tend to be the most popular used picks because they give you more inventory to compare, more trim and configuration choices, and a stronger chance of finding a truck that matches your budget and equipment needs. They also sit close enough to the current generation to deliver the newer cabin, technology, and capability buyers often want.
What is the RAM 3500's resale value?
| Model Year | Current Avg. Price | Year-Over-Year Change |
|---|---|---|
| 2014 | $28,339 CAD | −31.6% |
| 2017 | $39,492 CAD | −18.0% |
| 2024 | $71,346 CAD | −16.39% |
| 2019 | $49,624 CAD | −12.0% |
| 2023 | $68,938 CAD | −10.17% |
| 2025 | $87,444 CAD | −8.58% |
| 2022 | $63,611 CAD | −7.56% |
| 2021 | $57,819 CAD | −7.12% |
| 2016 | $40,023 CAD | −6.27% |
| 2020 | $56,351 CAD | −5.87% |
| 2018 | $47,508 CAD | −5.31% |
The table shows broad price softening across the model years, which is good news if you're shopping used. Several recent years have seen double-digit drops, while the rest are still trending lower by meaningful amounts.
The 2018, 2020, and 2016 model years have held their value best, with the smallest year-over-year price changes.
Should I buy a used RAM 3500 now or wait for the next model?
Buy now if:
- Price trend: The 2025 model is at −8.58% versus a year ago, and the 2024 model is at −16.39%.
- Deal availability: The 2025 model has 29.5% good and great deals, and the 2024 model has 33.5%.
- Sweet-spot year: The 2023 model has the most listings at a current average price of $68,938 CAD.
If you're buying used today, the 2023 model year offers the best mix of value and availability. If you want the newest version, it may be worth waiting for the next model year's inventory to build up.

Customers say
Overall, owners of the RAM 3500 across multiple model years are very satisfied with its powerful performance, especially in towing capacity and comfort. Many appreciate the spacious interiors and advanced features, such as the RAM box and Cummins diesel engine. However, some owners have expressed concerns about the reliability of the transmission, fuel economy, and pricing of certain models. Despite a few criticisms, the RAM 3500 is often seen as a dependable choice for heavy-duty tasks and is well-regarded for its capabilities.

Love my new truck! It has space for the whole family. Works as hard as a man with two child support payments to two different baby mommas! And rides a lot better than I would have expected it would.

Why it stands out
The 2024 RAM 3500 stands out as a heavy-duty truck that blends serious capability with the kind of technology and comfort buyers now expect in a daily driver. Its competitive edge is the powerful Cummins turbo diesel engine, and the truck’s towing and payload figures are a major part of its appeal: it can tow more than 15,875 kilograms and carry almost 3,600 kilograms of payload. Ram also gives it a more upscale feel than a bare-bones work truck, with a strong focus on luxury and tech, plus available features such as a 360-degree camera, adaptive cruise control, a 12-inch vertical infotainment system with wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, and a 750-watt Harman Kardon 17-speaker audio system.
For 2024, there were no significant changes or upgrades, so the truck carries forward the refreshed, well-equipped formula already established in this generation. That means buyers looking at the 2024 RAM 3500 are getting a truck that is already loaded with capability and convenience, rather than one defined by a major update year. It is still a very large vehicle, though, and its gargantuan proportions can be difficult to manage in towns and cities. The diesel engine is also noted as noisy, and safety technology is described as limited, so its strengths are most compelling for shoppers who prioritise towing, payload, and heavy-duty utility over compact manoeuvrability or a quieter, more car-like experience.
