Customers say

The Nissan NX has made a lasting impression on drivers across its model years, celebrated for its fun and sporty performance, excellent fuel economy, and unique styling. Owners love the versatility, particularly the Targa roof and the surprising cargo space when the rear seats are folded. However, common concerns include rust issues, limited interior space, and challenges with maintenance, particularly regarding the automatic transmission's responsiveness. Overall, the NX offers a joyful driving experience, though it may not be the most practical choice for larger groups.

I'll bet most of you have never even heard of the Nissan NX 2000, and if you think you have...you're probably thinking about the NX series from the late '80's, with its funky, wedge-like styline and interchangeable body parts. This is NOT that NX. Nissan only sold this car in the U.S. from 1991-1993 and they didn't seel very many at that. I suppose it's because of the somewhat odd styling cues, maybe? I think that the Mazda MX-3 may have had something to do with it's demise as well. Although similar in appearance, this car should not be confused with the NX1600, which had completely different mechanicals. Underneath the egg-like shell of the 2000 is the drivetrain taken directly from the more famous Sentra SE-R. It had a 2.0L, DOHC, all-aluminum 4-banger that produced just over 140hp in normally-aspirated form. This engine also powered the Infinity G20 of the same era. It was a high-revving, smooth motor that was also pretty bullet proof. The car also came with a limited-slip diff--quite advanced for a car of this vintage and price range--and anti-roll bars front and rear. The car handled wonderfully, was very responsive and fun, fun, fun to drive. I personally really liked the hatchback look more than the Sentra's more plebian sedan-derived trappings, and the T-tops just added to the fun--especially living in Southeast Florida, land of perpetual sunshine! I don't know about now, but when I owned the car a decade or so ago there was quite a cult following for both the NX2000 and the Sentra SE-R. It was not uncommon for a turbocharged version of the SR20DE engine to produce over 200hp, and parts are relatively cheap and easy to come by. I'd imagine that due to their scarcity and popularity with young, street-racer types, that examples nowadays in good shape are probably hard to come by. But if you're someone who appreciates a fun drive and are fortunate enough to come across a fine specimen of this car, consider it a good investment!

0 to 60 in 6.9 seconds, a limited slip differential, quick steering, a light and precise gearbox, nearly flat torque curve, a sexy exhaust note and still 29mpg on long trips.

Anyone who's ever driven a classic SE-R will tell you how much fun the car is. It's a lightweight, peppy, tight-turning pocket rocket that is great for everyday driving and every-once-in-a-while track days. Now, take that car, add a slicker looking exterior (oppinion) for better aerodynamics (fact), thicker front swaybar, bigger front brakes, and T-tops, and you now have the NX 2000. This is the best front drive sport coupe built in the early nineties. I've owned two and hope to own 2 more for the rest of the time I'm able to drive. Eggs rock.

This is my first car, just happened that there was one for sale right across the road from me. It's the first one I'd ever seen and I just had to have it. I am SO glad I picked this little car up. Considering it's age, it's been extremely dependable. I've only had to make typical "old car repairs," and replace an injector which seems to be a common problem with older Nissans. It's surprisingly quick off the mark. The SR20 is truly a legendary engine, reliable, and with plenty of punch. I can keep up with just about anything I normally encounter on the road. It has enough power to chirp tires, and it handles like a dream. Imagine a roller coaster flying around turns on tracks. Absolutely no detectable body-roll, and she'll do exactly what you tell her. The interior is very slick and simple, but in a nice way. It looks very good to be a 20 year old entry-level sports car. It's a very rare car, and a good conversation starter. Very few people recognizes it when they see it. As for negatives, the T-tops will inevitably begin to leak, as the seals will get old and crack. Replacing the seals or repairing the tops is more or less impossible. Nissan dealer told me they couldn't do it. Things rarely go wrong, but when they do it can be a pain to find parts. I've needed new motor mounts for weeks now, but can not find them. These cars are a blast, and I would recommend them to anyone as long as they find one that has been maintained well, which will prove difficult. It is a fantastic car, but if you buy one needing work, make sure you know what you're getting into.

Ok, this was my first car. It cost me $650 lol. It was actually in excellent condition, no engine problems at all, interior was kept very nice, there was just an exhaust leak and a rather large dent on the passenger side which I later repaired. It was a fun little car to drive and I loved the T-Tops. Only negative I see with this car was that it was small. The gas mileage was amazing, I got about 35mpg city and roughly 50mpg highway. It really didn't have very good acceleration with a passenger but it did handle fairly well and had good braking. Overall it was a quality car.
