What should I look for when buying a used Nissan Murano?

Key things to evaluate:

• Safety package: Nissan Safety Shield 360 with lane departure warning, blind spot warning, rear cross-traffic alert, and automatic emergency braking with pedestrian detection.
• Infotainment: wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto with the monolith-style dual 12.3-inch display.
• Fuel efficiency: 10.6 litres per 100 kilometres in the city, 8.6 on the highway, and 9.7 combined.

Which Nissan Murano trim should I buy?

The 2025 Nissan Murano offers these trims:

• SV: The entry trim brings the new 2.0-litre turbocharged VC-Turbo engine, nine-speed automatic transmission, standard all-wheel drive, wireless charging, wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, and the dual 12.3-inch display setup. It suits you if you want the newest Murano experience at the lowest price.
• SL: This trim adds Google Built-In, a 10-speaker Bose Premium Series audio system, 64-colour ambient lighting, the glass-effect dash treatment, ProPILOT Assist 1.1, and the more advanced 3D Around View Monitor with Transparent Hood View. It looks like the best-value pick if you want the richest mix of comfort, tech, and driver assistance.
• Platinum: The top trim adds a head-up display, 21-inch wheels, ventilated and massaging front seats, and the most upscale presentation in the lineup. It suits you if you want the most premium Murano.

What Nissan Murano do most buyers choose?

The Nissan Murano years with the most listings are 2020, 2018, and 2019.

These higher-volume years tend to be popular because they give you more inventory to compare, which can make it easier to find the right trim, colour, and price. They also sit in the part of the lineup where the Murano’s comfort-focused character and feature content are especially appealing to used shoppers.

What is the Nissan Murano's resale value?

Most Murano model years are down year over year, which is good news if you are shopping used and want more value for your money. The newer years are falling by smaller amounts than the older ones, while the older model years show steeper drops that can create stronger bargains. The 2023, 2024, and 2022 model years have held their value best, with the smallest year-over-year price changes.

Is the Nissan Murano safe?

• 2025: 8/10

For the safest used buy, the 2025 model posts the highest confirmed score of 8/10.

Should I buy a used Nissan Murano now or wait for the next model?

Buy now if:

• Price trend: The 2025 model is at −9.83% versus a year ago, and the 2024 model is at −6.78%.
• Sweet-spot year: The 2020 model has the most listings at a current average price of $22,772 CAD. The Nissan Murano offers a comfortable ride, a stylish design, and a cabin that feels more upscale than many mainstream crossovers.

Consider waiting if:

• Powertrain/efficiency: The new Murano gets a new powertrain: a 2.0-litre turbocharged inline four-cylinder engine — known as VC-Turbo, referring to Nissan’s variable compression ratio system — paired with a nine-speed automatic transmission, and it’s rated for 241 horsepower and 260 lb-ft of torque.
• Tech: The 2025 Murano is well-equipped when it comes to tech features, with wireless charging and wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto all standard, plus a monolith-style display that pairs two 12.3-inch screens in a single housing.
• Safety: The fourth-gen model comes standard with the Nissan Safety Shield 360 suite of advanced driver assistance features, and higher trims add ProPILOT Assist 1.1, Transparent Hood View, and a more advanced 3D Around View Monitor.
• Starting price: The 2025 Nissan Murano SV starts at $49,631 CAD in Canada.

If you're buying used today, the 2020 model year offers the best mix of value and availability. If you want the latest tech and features, it may be worth waiting for the next model year's inventory to build up.
