Key things to evaluate:

• Safety package: Mercedes’s innovative Pre-Safe and Crosswind Assist technologies, plus Car-to-X Communication, front and rear parking sensors, and a surround-view camera system.
• Infotainment: MBUX infotainment with dual 12.3-inch displays, wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, navigation with augmented reality enhancement, and a Burmester surround-sound system with Dolby Atmos technology.
• Fuel efficiency: The powertrain supplies 375 horsepower and 369 pound-feet of torque, and it’s coupled with a nine-speed automatic transmission and standard 4Matic all-wheel-drive (AWD). It’s rated by Natural Resources Canada at 11.3 litres per 100 kilometres combined, but with the standard Dynamic Select system in the Comfort driving mode for most of the test drive we observed 12.1 L/100 km on our mountainous evaluation route.

Which Mercedes-Benz GLS trim should I buy?

• GLS 580: This trim adds more power and a higher-output luxury focus for buyers who want stronger performance and extra opulence.

What Mercedes-Benz GLS do most buyers choose?

The Mercedes-Benz GLS years with the most listings are 2025, 2022, and 2021.

Higher-listing model years tend to draw more shopper attention because they give you more inventory to compare, which can make it easier to find the right trim, colour, and price. They also often become the most practical starting point when you want a balance of selection and value.

What is the Mercedes-Benz GLS's resale value?

The table shows broad downward movement across the GLS lineup, with every listed model year posting a negative year-over-year change. For used buyers, that pattern can create better entry points on recent models, especially where the drops are steepest. The smaller declines at the lower end of the table suggest some years have softened less than others.

The 2021, 2019, and 2018 model years have held their value best, with the smallest year-over-year price changes.

Is the Mercedes-Benz GLS safe?

• 2026: 7/10
