How much does the Kia Sorento cost in today's market?

The Kia Sorento's current nationwide average price is $23,244 CAD, and its lowest point over the past year was $23,094 CAD. Recently, prices have come down for the 2023, 2024, and 2025 models, making now a good time to shop recent model years.

Is the Kia Sorento a good car?

Yes — the Kia Sorento is a strong used SUV choice if you want space, family-friendly versatility, and a broad mix of features across its model years. The all-generations owner rating is 4.55/5 across every model year in the data.

Owners consistently praise the Sorento for its spacious interior, comfortable ride, and practical family-focused layout. Expert reviews rate the 2024 and 2022 models among the highest across all years.

Are Kia Sorento models reliable?

Owners and experts consistently point to the Sorento’s practical layout, comfortable ride, and family-friendly character as recurring strengths. Across the model years, review feedback also highlights its spacious cabin and everyday usability, which helps it feel like a dependable choice for regular driving.

• Owners rate the Kia Sorento between 2.0 and 5.0 out of 5 stars across all model years in the data.

For used buyers, long-term ownership risk is most manageable when you focus on later model years with stronger safety and equipment updates, since the earliest generations carry more age-related uncertainty.

What should I look for when buying a used Kia Sorento?

Key things to evaluate:

• Fuel efficiency: Kia equips the Sorento LX with an underwhelming 191-horsepower, 2.5-litre four-cylinder engine and an eight-speed automatic transmission. It is adequate and will return an estimated 9.4 litres per 100 kilometres in combined driving. If you’re on a tight budget, it’s the right choice.

Which Kia Sorento trim should I buy?

The 2025 Kia Sorento offers these trims:

• LX: The entry trim uses the 2.5-litre four-cylinder engine and is the value-focused starting point.
• EX: This trim moves you to the turbocharged 2.5-litre four-cylinder and adds more equipment for everyday comfort and convenience.
• X-Line: This version adds a more rugged appearance, standard Highway Driving Assist, and a panoramic sunroof.
• X-Line Limited: This trim builds on X-Line with a larger digital instrument panel, more advanced safety tech, and Highway Driving Assist 2.
• X-Pro: The top trim adds exclusive bumper covers, matte-black 17-inch wheels with all-terrain tires, enhanced roof rails, and increased towing capacity.

What Kia Sorento do most buyers choose?

The Kia Sorento years with the most listings are 2020, 2019, and 2024.

These higher-volume years tend to attract more shoppers because they offer a strong mix of availability, pricing, and familiar equipment. When more examples are on the market, you also have a better chance of finding the right trim, colour, and condition for your budget.

What is the Kia Sorento's resale value?

The Sorento’s used prices are down across every model year shown, which is good news if you’re shopping for value. The declines are all double-digit, so buyers can find meaningful savings compared with a year ago. The newest models have softened too, which can make recent-year shopping more approachable than you might expect.

The 2024, 2015, and 2025 model years have held their value best, with the smallest year-over-year price changes.

Is the Kia Sorento safe?

• 2025: 8/10
• 2024: 9/10
• 2022: 9/10

Highway Driving Assist is standard on X-Line, and with X-Line Limited and X-Pro trim, it adds lane-changing functionality to create a Highway Driving Assist 2 (HDA 2) system.

For the safest used buy, the 2022 and 2024 models both post the highest confirmed score of 9/10.

Should I buy a used Kia Sorento now or wait for the next model?

Buy now if:

• Price trend: The 2025 model is at −14.06% versus a year ago, and the 2024 model is at −11.51%.
• Deal availability: The 2024 model has 31.4% good and great deals.
• Sweet-spot year: The 2020 model has the most listings at a current average price of $18,047 CAD. The Kia Sorento offers a practical cabin, family-friendly space, and a versatile overall layout that suits everyday use well.

Consider waiting if:

• Powertrain/efficiency: Kia equips the Sorento LX with an underwhelming 191-horsepower, 2.5-litre four-cylinder engine and an eight-speed automatic transmission, while the turbocharged 2.5-litre four-cylinder generates 281 horsepower and 311 pound-feet of torque.
• Tech: The Sorento’s 24-inch panoramic display is paired with a 12.3-inch digital instrument panel and a standard 12.3-inch touchscreen infotainment system.
• Safety: The latest Sorento adds numerous active collision avoidance features, a camera-based Blind-Spot View Monitor, and the surround-view camera system.

If you're buying used today, the 2020 model year offers the best mix of value and availability. If you want the latest tech and features, it may be worth waiting for the next model year's inventory to build up.
