What should I look for when buying a used Kia Carnival?

Key things to evaluate:

• Fuel efficiency: The Carnival is rated by Natural Resources Canada 12.1 litres per 100 kilometres in city driving, 9.0 on the highway, and 10.7 combined.

Which Kia Carnival trim should I buy?

The 2024 Kia Carnival offers these trims:

• LX: The entry trim starts the lineup with the Carnival's core family-hauling layout and is the best-value starting point if you want the model's space and style at the lowest price.
• LX+: This trim adds the heated seats and heated steering wheel that suit buyers who want more cold-weather comfort.
• EX: This trim adds blind-spot monitoring, rear cross-traffic alert, adaptive cruise control, junction turning collision avoidance assist, front parking sensors, and safe exit assist.
• EX+: This trim adds a surround-view camera system and a blind-spot camera system that shows a camera view in the instrument cluster when a turn signal is activated.
• SX: This trim adds reserve parking collision avoidance assist and brings the most upscale equipment in the 2024 lineup.

What Kia Carnival do most buyers choose?

The Kia Carnival years with the most listings are 2024, 2025, and 2023.

These higher-volume years tend to be the easiest places to shop because you get more choice in trims, colours, and pricing. They also tend to attract the broadest mix of used-car shoppers, which helps keep them at the centre of the market.

What is the Kia Carnival's resale value?

The table shows broad downward movement across the model range, which can work in your favour if you're shopping used. The larger double-digit drops point to meaningful price softening, especially on newer examples. That creates a stronger value case for buyers who want a recent Carnival without paying near-new pricing.

The 2024, 2023, and 2022 model years have held their value best, with the smallest year-over-year price changes.

Is the Kia Carnival safe?

• 2024: 5/10
• 2023: 9/10
• 2022: 9/10

The 2024 Carnival includes lane keep assist, lane follow assist, forward collision avoidance assist, a driver attention monitor, high beam assist, and rear parking sensors on all trims. For the safest used buy, the 2022 and 2023 models both post the highest confirmed score of 9/10.

Should I buy a used Kia Carnival now or wait for the next model?

Buy now if:

• Price trend: The 2025 model is at −17.24% versus a year ago, and the 2024 model is at −10.75%.
• Deal availability: The 2025 model has 32.7% good and great deals, and the 2024 model has 31.6%.
• Sweet-spot year: The 2024 model has the most listings at a current average price of $37,105 CAD. The Kia Carnival offers a spacious, comfortable cabin with distinctive styling that makes it especially appealing for families.

Consider waiting if:

• Powertrain/efficiency: The Carnival is only offered with a 3.5-litre V6 engine connected to an eight-speed automatic transmission and front-wheel drive (FWD), and the hybrid powertrain is announced for 2025.
• Tech: The LX, LX+, and EX trim levels get an 8-inch touchscreen with wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto connectivity, while other trim levels upgrade to a 12.3-inch touchscreen and a 12.3-inch digital instrument cluster.
• Safety: To get blind-spot monitoring, rear cross-traffic alert, adaptive cruise control, junction turning collision avoidance assist, front parking sensors, and safe exit assist, you’ll need to upgrade to the EX trim.

If you're buying used today, the 2024 model year offers the best mix of value and availability. If you want the latest tech and features, it may be worth waiting for the next model year's inventory to build up.
