What should I look for when buying a used Honda Odyssey?

Key things to evaluate:

• Safety package: Honda Sensing
• Infotainment: a 9-inch touchscreen infotainment system with wireless Apple CarPlay and wireless Android Auto
• Fuel efficiency: According to Natural Resources Canada, the 2025 Odyssey should get 10.6 litres per 100 kilometres in combined driving. Our test vehicle returned 13.2 L/100 km on the evaluation loop and averaged 9.8 L/100 km during a week of travel that included an eight-hour road trip mostly on highways.

Which Honda Odyssey trim should I buy?

The 2025 Honda Odyssey offers these trims:

• Sport: The entry trim brings the Odyssey’s core family-friendly layout and is the best-value starting point for shoppers who want the essentials.
• Sport-L: This trim adds more comfort and convenience equipment for buyers who want a richer daily driving experience.
• Touring: A strong choice if you want a more premium feature set, including the equipment highlighted in the expert review.
• Black Edition: The top trim adds the most upscale presentation and the fullest equipment list in the 2025 range.

What Honda Odyssey do most buyers choose?

The Honda Odyssey years with the most listings are 2019, 2018, and 2024.

These higher-volume years tend to be popular because they give you a wider selection of trims and prices to compare. They also often sit in a sweet spot between newer features and more accessible used pricing.

What is the Honda Odyssey's resale value?

Most Odyssey model years are down year over year, which can work in your favour if you are shopping used. The larger drops are concentrated in older and mid-cycle years, while newer examples are falling too, but by a smaller amount. That gives you more room to find value across the range.

The 2014, 2024, and 2025 model years have held their value best, with the smallest year-over-year price changes.

Is the Honda Odyssey safe?

• 2025: 6/10
• 2022: 8/10
• 2021: 9/10

Every 2025 Odyssey has Honda Sensing, a collection of driving-assistance systems.

For the safest used buy, the 2021 model posts the highest confirmed score of 9/10.

Should I buy a used Honda Odyssey now or wait for the next model?

Buy now if:

• Price trend: The 2025 model is at −9.73% versus a year ago, and the 2024 model is at −9.07%.
• Deal availability: The 2025 model has 34.9% good and great deals, and the 2024 model has 31.5%.
• Sweet-spot year: The 2019 model has the most listings at a current average price of $27,102 CAD. The Honda Odyssey offers a roomy cabin, flexible seating, and family-friendly practicality that make it easy to live with every day.

Consider waiting if:

• Powertrain/efficiency: Under its stubby hood, you’ll find a tried-and-true 3.5-litre V6 engine making 280 horsepower and 262 pound-feet of torque. A 10-speed automatic transmission delivers that motive force to the Odyssey’s front wheels.
• Tech: A new 7-inch digital driver display pairs with an analog speedometer, and the minivan adds a 9-inch touchscreen infotainment system with a faster processor for quicker response to inputs.
• Safety: Every 2025 Odyssey has Honda Sensing, a collection of driving-assistance systems. Standard safety features include adaptive cruise control, forward collision warning, automatic emergency braking, lane-departure warning, lane-keep assist, blind-spot monitoring, and rear cross-traffic alert.
• Starting price: In Canada, the 2025 Odyssey comes in Sport, Sport-L, Touring, and Black Edition trim levels. Fortunately, with a slightly defeatured Sport version being the entry point instead of the 2024 Odyssey’s EX-L trim, the base price drops by $2,000 to $53,056 including destination charges and other fees.

If you're buying used today, the 2019 model year offers the best mix of value and availability. If you want the latest tech and features, it may be worth waiting for the next model year's inventory to build up.
