What should I look for when buying a used Honda HR-V?

Key things to evaluate:

• Safety package: Honda Sensing, with forward-collision warning, automatic emergency braking, lane-departure warning, lane-keep assist, lane-centring assist, adaptive cruise control, traffic-jam assist, and automatic high-beam headlights.
• Infotainment: a 9-inch touchscreen with wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto.
• Fuel efficiency: official Natural Resources Canada ratings say the HR-V will burn 8.3 litres per 100 kilometres in combined city and highway driving with front-wheel drive (FWD) or 8.7 L/100 km combined with AWD.

Which Honda HR-V trim should I buy?

The 2026 Honda HR-V offers these trims:

• Sport: This trim adds a more distinctive look, a 18-inch black wheel design, Boost Blue paint, and standard AWD, making it the best-value choice for many shoppers.
• EX-L: The top trim adds genuine leather with perforated surfaces and Z-pattern stitching, front footwell lighting, silver steering wheel spokes, and the most upscale cabin presentation.

What Honda HR-V do most buyers choose?

The Honda HR-V years with the most listings are 2024, 2025, and 2023.

These higher-volume model years tend to be the easiest to shop because you get more listings to compare and a wider spread of prices and equipment. That usually gives you a better chance of finding the right trim, colour, and condition for your budget.

What is the Honda HR-V's resale value?

Most HR-V model years are down year over year, which is good news if you’re shopping used because prices have generally softened. The declines are especially pronounced in several newer and mid-cycle years, while the smallest changes are clustered among the more stable value-retention examples.
