What should I look for when buying a used Honda HR-V?

Key things to evaluate:

• Safety package: Honda Sensing, with forward-collision warning, automatic emergency braking, lane-departure warning, lane-keep assist, lane-centring assist, adaptive cruise control, traffic-jam assist, and automatic high-beam headlights; blind-spot monitors and rear cross-traffic alert are also standard on the latest model, while front and rear parking sensors with low-speed automatic braking are exclusive to the EX-L.
• Infotainment: a 9-inch touchscreen with wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, plus a wireless smartphone charger.
• Fuel efficiency: official Natural Resources Canada ratings say the HR-V will burn 8.3 litres per 100 kilometres in combined city and highway driving with front-wheel drive (FWD) or 8.7 L/100 km combined with AWD.

Which Honda HR-V trim should I buy?

The 2026 Honda HR-V offers these trims:

• LX: The entry trim gives you the HR-V’s core practicality and the standard 9-inch touchscreen, and it suits buyers who want the lowest starting point in the range.
• Sport: This trim adds a more distinctive look with its 18-inch black wheels and brings standard AWD, making it the best-value choice for many shoppers.
• EX-L: The top trim adds genuine leather upholstery with perforated surfaces and Z-pattern stitching, plus front footwell lighting, silver steering wheel spokes, and front and rear parking sensors with low-speed automatic braking for easier parking.

What Honda HR-V do most buyers choose?

The Honda HR-V years with the most listings are 2024, 2025, and 2023.

These higher-volume years tend to be the easiest place to shop because you get more inventory to compare, which can improve your chances of finding the right colour, trim, and price. They also tend to attract more attention from used buyers because they balance newer features with a wider selection of listings.

What is the Honda HR-V's resale value?

Most Honda HR-V model years are showing year-over-year price declines, which is good news if you’re shopping used because it creates more room to find value. The drops are especially pronounced in several recent and older years, while a few model years are falling by smaller amounts. That mix suggests the market is adjusting across the lineup rather than moving in one uniform direction.

The 2017, 2024, and 2023 model years have held their value best, with the smallest year-over-year price changes.

Is the Honda HR-V safe?

• 2026: 6/10

Honda Sensing is standard across all trims on the latest HR-V, and it includes forward-collision warning, automatic emergency braking, lane-departure warning, lane-keep assist, lane-centring assist, adaptive cruise control, traffic-jam assist, and automatic high-beam headlights.
