What should I look for when buying a used Honda Accord?

Key things to evaluate:

• Fuel efficiency: According to Natural Resources Canada, the Accord EX should return 7.3 litres per 100 kilometres in combined driving. Our test car returned 8.2 L/100 km on the evaluation route, reflecting the high-30s heat on testing day and the continuous flow of air conditioning, which prevented the car’s automatic engine stop/start system from activating during most of the city driving.

Which Honda Accord trim should I buy?

The 2023 Honda Accord offers these trims:

• EX: The base gas-only trim in Canada, with a 1.5-litre turbocharged engine, a 7-inch touchscreen, a 10.2-inch digital instrument cluster, wired Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, and Honda Sensing; it suits buyers who want the entry point to the redesigned Accord.
• Sport Hybrid: The best-value trim for many shoppers, adding hybrid power, quicker acceleration, upgraded fabric upholstery, and a better infotainment system.
• Touring Hybrid: The top hybrid trim, adding the most upscale equipment in the lineup and Google Built-in with integrated Google Assistant and Google Maps.

What Honda Accord do most buyers choose?

The Honda Accord years with the most listings are 2019, 2018, and 2020.

These higher-volume years tend to be popular because they give you more choice at familiar price points, which makes it easier to compare trims, mileage, and condition. They also tend to attract shoppers looking for a balance of value, availability, and the Accord’s core strengths.

What is the Honda Accord's resale value?

Most Accord model years in the table are down year over year, and several recent ones show double-digit declines. That pattern can work in your favour if you want a newer Accord at a lower used price than it carried a year ago. The smallest changes are concentrated in the older and more established model years, which suggests steadier pricing there.

The 2014, 2016, and 2022 model years have held their value best, with the smallest year-over-year price changes.
