Customer summary
Overall, owners of the Dodge Journey appreciate its spaciousness, comfortable seating, and versatile three-row layout, making it a great choice for families and long trips. Many like the smooth driving experience and the powerful V6 engine, especially in colder climates with higher-end features like all-wheel drive. However, there are notable concerns about reliability, especially with mechanical issues in earlier models, as well as dissatisfaction with fuel economy and certain outdated features like the lack of modern technology such as Bluetooth and rearview cameras. Some drivers have also pointed out concerns about the quality of safety features and overall performance, with some describing it as lacking in power and sluggish at times.

What Dodge Journey do most buyers choose?
The Dodge Journey years with the most listings are 2016, 2017, and 2015.
| Model Year | Total Listings | Good + Great Deals % |
|---|---|---|
| 2016 | 242 | 25.6% |
| 2017 | 212 | 31.6% |
| 2015 | 190 | 15.3% |
| 2018 | 166 | 36.7% |
| 2014 | 159 | 10.1% |
| 2019 | 73 | 35.6% |
These higher-volume years tend to attract more shoppers because they offer a wider selection of trims, prices, and deal opportunities. More listings also make it easier to compare condition and equipment across similar vehicles.
What is the Dodge Journey's resale value?
| Model Year | Current Avg. Price | Year-Over-Year Change |
|---|---|---|
| 2019 | $12,863 CAD | −21.0% |
| 2018 | $11,806 CAD | −18.65% |
| 2017 | $10,914 CAD | −16.72% |
| 2014 | $7,028 CAD | −16.36% |
| 2016 | $9,918 CAD | −10.36% |
| 2015 | $8,207 CAD | −10.09% |
The table shows broad downward movement across the model years, which can work in your favour if you're shopping used. Several years have seen double-digit price drops, creating more room for value-focused buyers. The smallest changes are still negative, so the overall pattern points to softer resale values across the lineup.
The 2015, 2016, and 2014 model years have held their value best, with the smallest year-over-year price changes.

Customers say

Exactly what we needed as a family vehicle. 3rd row is a huge bonus and the room on the inside is better than I could have imagined. Not as big as the Durango but bigger than the Ford Escape. Very pleased with the performance thus far. We had 8 inches of snow 2 days after we bought it, and it hadled the snow like a champ!
