Is the Dodge Journey a good car?
Yes — the Dodge Journey earns a solid reputation with shoppers who want space, comfort, and family-friendly versatility. The all-generations owner rating is 4.23/5 across every model year in the data.

18.0% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
Are Dodge Journey models reliable?

Expert and owner feedback together point to a vehicle that can suit family use well when you prioritise comfort and practicality.
- Owners rate the Dodge Journey between 3.6 and 4.7 out of 5 stars across all model years in the data.
For used buyers, long-term ownership risk is shaped by the mixed reliability feedback in the ownership reviews, so a careful pre-purchase inspection is especially worthwhile.
What Dodge Journey do most buyers choose?
The Dodge Journey years with the most listings are 2016, 2017, and 2015.
| Model Year | Total Listings | Good + Great Deals % |
|---|---|---|
| 2016 | 256 | 21.9% |
| 2017 | 238 | 26.9% |
| 2015 | 207 | 15% |
| 2018 | 172 | 30.2% |
| 2014 | 162 | 9.9% |
| 2019 | 80 | 31.3% |
These higher-volume years tend to be popular because they give you more inventory to compare, which can make it easier to find the right trim, price, and condition. They also often attract shoppers looking for a balance of value and availability.
What is the Dodge Journey's resale value?
| Model Year | Current Avg. Price | Year-Over-Year Change |
|---|---|---|
| 2019 | $13,761 CAD | −22.33% |
| 2015 | $7,956 CAD | −17.17% |
| 2017 | $11,451 CAD | −15.57% |
| 2018 | $12,573 CAD | −15.22% |
| 2016 | $9,568 CAD | −14.21% |
| 2014 | $8,030 CAD | +0.67% |
Most model years show double-digit price declines year over year, which creates stronger buying opportunities for used shoppers. One model year is essentially flat, while the rest are moving lower at a noticeable pace. That pattern gives you room to shop for value, especially among the more recent years.
The 2014 model year is holding steady, with prices close to flat year-over-year.
The 2014, 2016, and 2018 model years have held their value best, with the smallest year-over-year price changes.

Exactly what we needed as a family vehicle. 3rd row is a huge bonus and the room on the inside is better than I could have imagined. Not as big as the Durango but bigger than the Ford Escape. Very pleased with the performance thus far. We had 8 inches of snow 2 days after we bought it, and it hadled the snow like a champ!
