I absolutely enjoy every aspect of this car. It came exactly like I wanted it to and had features that I was not expecting. All in all I'm very happy with my purchase.

Reviewed a 2020 Chevrolet Malibu on Mar 1, 2026
I purchased a 2020 Chevy Malibu on February 14th, 2024. Since then, the vehicle has been plagued with issues. The check engine light is constantly on, and when a sensor fails, multiple problems seem to arise. For example, the first time the check engine light appeared, the dash dinged and displayed messages like “steering assist reduced, drive with care,” while all the gauges would jump around. It also showed “low fuel,” despite the tank being full, and the message “service ESC.” The root cause was the throttle body, which needed to be replaced. Subsequently, similar issues occurred, and different parts had to be replaced, including the mass airflow sensor, the accelerator pedal, the brake vacuum pump sensor, the brake vacuum pump, and components related to the charging system. At one point, there was a ground issue. Then there is the constant “shift into park” after parking the car. Overall, this car has been nothing but trouble, and I would not recommend it to anyone.

The car has more features than you think for the price. Heated seats, android and apple auto, a turbo. It's not the pinical of luxury, but it definitely gives you enough if you are on a budget.

Why it stands out
The 2018 Chevrolet Malibu stands out as a roomy, good-value midsize sedan with a more sophisticated feel than earlier Malibus. It benefits from the 2016 redesign’s sleeker styling and longer wheelbase, which gave it a larger, more open-feeling back seat, even though trunk space slightly shrank. For this model year, Chevrolet offered the Malibu with a 1.5-litre turbocharged four-cylinder engine making 163 horsepower and 184 pound-feet of torque, plus a 2.0-litre turbocharged four-cylinder with 250 horsepower and 258 pound-feet of torque on upper trims. The Malibu Hybrid was also part of the lineup, pairing a 1.8-litre four-cylinder with a 76-kW electric motor for a total output of 182 horsepower and 277 pound-feet of torque, along with a combined fuel economy rating of 5.1 litres per 100 kilometres.
Inside, the 2018 Malibu’s appeal comes from its easy-to-use technology and broad safety equipment list. The Chevy MyLink system ran on a seven-inch screen with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, while an eight-inch screen was optional on upper trims and standard on Premier. Depending on trim, buyers could also get lane-keeping assist, blind-spot monitoring, rear cross-traffic alert, adaptive cruise control, automatic emergency braking, and front and rear park assist. Its main drawbacks are that the standard 1.5-litre engine was described as lacklustre in acceleration, and the car was not quite as refined as rivals such as the Toyota Camry or Honda Accord. Still, for shoppers who want a comfortable, efficient family sedan with plenty of features, the 2018 Malibu makes a strong case.
