Yes — the Chevrolet Cruze earns a strong overall owner response, and its appeal is reinforced by comfort, fuel efficiency, and a polished design across the lineup. The all-generations owner rating is 4.33/5 across every model year in the data.
Owners repeatedly praise the Cruze for its smooth ride, comfortable cabin, and good fuel economy. Many also highlight its useful technology and spacious interior, which help it feel well suited to daily driving.
23.2% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
Are Chevrolet Cruze models reliable?

- Owners rate the Chevrolet Cruze between 3.0 and 4.67 out of 5 stars across all model years in the data.
For used buyers, long-term ownership risk is shaped most by model year, so careful inspection matters most on earlier examples.
What Chevrolet Cruze do most buyers choose?
The Chevrolet Cruze years with the most listings are 2017, 2018, and 2016.
| Model Year | Total Listings | Good + Great Deals % |
|---|---|---|
| 2017 | 284 | 29.9% |
| 2018 | 271 | 31.7% |
| 2016 | 248 | 27.8% |
| 2015 | 194 | 20.6% |
| 2014 | 158 | 17.1% |
| 2019 | 149 | 30.2% |
These higher-volume years tend to be popular because they combine broad availability with the Cruze’s later-generation updates, which many shoppers value for everyday use. More listings also give you a better chance of finding the right trim, mileage, and price.
What is the Chevrolet Cruze's resale value?
| Model Year | Current Avg. Price | Year-Over-Year Change |
|---|---|---|
| 2014 | $5,690 CAD | −22.91% |
| 2019 | $13,911 CAD | −15.31% |
| 2016 | $9,036 CAD | −12.11% |

The 2018, 2015, and 2017 model years have held their value best, with the smallest year-over-year price changes.

Why it stands out
The 2018 Chevrolet Cruze stands out as a compact car that tries to feel more polished than its price suggests. Chevrolet redesigned it for 2016 with better fuel economy, more rear seat room, and modern safety and infotainment technologies, and by 2018 it had built a reputation for being much more reliable than the original version. That combination makes it appealing to buyers who want an affordable car that still feels well equipped and easy to live with.
For 2018, the Cruze’s turbocharged 1.4-litre four-cylinder engine made 153 horsepower and 177 pound-feet of torque, and it could be paired with either a six-speed manual or automatic transmission. It also offered strong efficiency, with consumption as low as 6.8 L/100 km combined. The cabin was a major part of the appeal too: even the base Cruze L came standard with a 7-inch touchscreen, Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, OnStar, Bluetooth, keyless entry, and steering wheel-mounted controls. Higher trims could add features such as a sunroof, SiriusXM satellite radio, a Wi-Fi hotspot, and active safety systems including automatic emergency braking, rear cross-traffic alerts, blind spot alerts, and lane departure warnings with lane keep assist.
There are still a few trade-offs. The Cruze was described as having some cheap bits inside, and the user feedback suggests that while owners like the smooth ride, comfort, and fuel economy, some wish for more power, especially with the air conditioning on. Even so, the 2018 Chevrolet Cruze remains distinctive for blending low running costs, useful technology, and a more refined feel than many shoppers expect from a compact car.
