New & Used 2026 Toyota RAV4 for Sale nearSault Ste. Marie, ON

Is the 2026 Toyota RAV4 a good car?

The 2026 Toyota RAV4 earns 6.8/10 from our experts. The model scores 7/10 across Look and feel, Form and function, Cost effectiveness, Technology, and Safety.

It arrives redesigned with more power and greater efficiency, and it leans on a standard hybrid drivetrain, more standard features, and a quicker operating system to keep its bestselling appeal. That makes it a strong fit if you want a compact SUV that prioritizes lower running costs and updated tech while still staying practical for everyday use.

The trade-offs are worth noting: the trim structure may be confusing, and its size has not kept up with rivals.

With 41.7% of listings priced as good or great deals, the market gives you a decent amount of choice.

Is the 2026 Toyota RAV4 reliable?

The 2026 Toyota RAV4 is presented as a familiar, mainstream SUV with a standard hybrid setup, improved structural rigidity, and a smoother CVT, all of which support the impression of a well-sorted daily driver. Its updated hybrid system is described as quieter and more refined in normal use, and the broader redesign is meant to bolster the model’s longstanding appeal.

Toyota also says the standard hybrid powertrain should reduce fuel costs over time, which helps ownership feel more predictable. For used buyers, the main long-term risk is less about the core mechanical package and more about choosing the right trim and avoiding paying for features you do not need.

What should I look for when buying a used 2026 Toyota RAV4?

Key things to evaluate:

• Trim level: The base LE is the most stripped-back version, while higher grades add features such as a power driver’s seat, more USB ports, a panoramic sunroof, a low-profile shifter, and extra driver-assistance technology. If you want the best value, the XLE is the trim to focus on.
• Powertrain: You get a 2.5-litre four-cylinder hybrid system with three electric motors and standard AWD through a CVT. The setup is tuned for smoother, quieter everyday driving and better efficiency than the previous generation.
• Safety package: Toyota Safety Sense 4.0 is standard, with automatic emergency braking with pedestrian detection, lane departure alert with lane keep assist, adaptive cruise control, blind spot monitoring with rear cross-traffic alert, an emergency stop system, safe exit alert, and an enhanced rearview camera. A driver attention monitor is available on higher grades.
• Infotainment: Standard equipment includes a 12.3-inch digital instrument cluster, a 10.5-inch touchscreen, wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, and Toyota’s Arene operating system. A 12.9-inch touchscreen is reserved for top trims.
• Fuel efficiency: Natural Resources Canada rates the base LE at 5.5 L/100 km combined, the XLE at 5.7 L/100 km combined, the XSE and Limited at 5.8 L/100 km combined, and the Woodland at 6.2 L/100 km combined.

Which 2026 Toyota RAV4 trim should I buy?

The 2026 Toyota RAV4 is offered in 5 trim levels: LE, XLE, Woodland, XSE, and Limited.

Here's the short version:

• LE: This is the entry point, and it gives you the standard hybrid powertrain, the core safety suite, the digital instrument cluster, the 10.5-inch touchscreen, wireless smartphone integration, and the lowest fuel-consumption figure in the lineup. It makes sense if you want the most affordable way into the redesigned RAV4.
• XLE: This is the best-value trim. It adds 18-inch wheels, a power driver’s seat, and more USB ports, and it is the trim to target if you want a better-equipped RAV4 without jumping too far up the price ladder.
• Woodland: Choose this if you want the Rugged look and the extra hardware that comes with it, including all-terrain tyres, a roof rack with cross bars, a tow hitch, and slightly more ground clearance. It is the right pick if style and light adventure use matter more to you than fuel economy.
• XSE: This trim brings a more upscale feel and can be paired with a Technology package that adds a panoramic sunroof, the low-profile shifter, and extra driver-assistance tech such as lane change assist and traffic jam assist.
• Limited: This is the top trim, and it adds the most premium cabin touches, including the slimmer electric shifter and the larger 12.9-inch touchscreen. It suits you if you want the most fully loaded RAV4.

Toyota Safety Sense 4.0 is standard across the lineup, while a driver attention monitor is available on higher grades.

Is the 2026 Toyota RAV4 safe?

The 2026 Toyota RAV4 earns a 7/10 safety score from our experts.

Every 2026 RAV4 comes with Toyota Safety Sense 4.0, which includes automatic emergency braking with pedestrian detection, lane departure alert with lane keep assist, adaptive cruise control, blind spot monitoring with rear cross-traffic alert, an emergency stop system, safe exit alert, and an enhanced rearview camera with guidelines. Toyota says the updated system uses a wider camera view and broader radar detection range, which should improve responsiveness and night-time detection.

A driver attention monitor is available on higher grades. Toyota also notes that the redesign should address shortcomings the IIHS found in the outgoing RAV4’s front crash protection, although crash testing for this model year had not yet been completed in the source material.

Should I buy a 2026 Toyota RAV4 or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2026 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2026 if:

• 41.7% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• The redesigned model brings a standard hybrid drivetrain, more standard features, and a quicker operating system.

The bottom line: If you want the newest RAV4 formula with better efficiency, more tech, and a broader trim spread, the 2026 is the one to target. If you are more price-sensitive, a nearby model year may still make sense, especially if you can find a well-equipped example at a lower asking price.
