New & Used 2026 Toyota Highlander Hybrid for Sale near Esquimalt, BC

Is the 2026 Toyota Highlander Hybrid a good car?

The 2026 Toyota Highlander Hybrid is a practical three-row family SUV with a long reputation for efficiency and dependability. It was the first mass-market hybrid with seating for seven passengers, and that family-first focus still defines its appeal. The cabin is built for versatility, with three rows of seating and the ability to open up a large cargo area by folding the second and third rows.

It also brings standard all-wheel drive, which adds confidence when road conditions are slippery. For 2026, it sits at the end of its generation, and Toyota is planning a fully electric Highlander for 2027. The hybrid powertrain and rear-axle electric motor setup help deliver strong traction while keeping fuel use low, with Natural Resources Canada estimating combined fuel consumption at 6.7 litres per 100 kilometres.

For shoppers who want a reliable, efficient, and well-equipped family hauler, it remains a compelling choice. 30.0% of listings are priced as good or great deals, which gives you some room to shop selectively.

Is the 2026 Toyota Highlander Hybrid reliable?

The 2026 Toyota Highlander Hybrid is described as having a long reputation for efficiency and dependability, and that reliability-focused character is a major part of its appeal. It also comes with standard safety equipment, including Toyota Safety Sense 2.0 or better, rear cross-traffic alert, and blind spot monitoring.

Its hybrid system is designed for everyday usability, with standard all-wheel drive and a rear electric motor rather than a traditional mechanical link to the rear axle. For used buyers, the main long-term ownership risk is that you should expect a family SUV that is built for practicality rather than excitement, so you may want to pay close attention to how well the vehicle has been maintained.
