CarGurus Analysis: 2026 Toyota Corolla
Summary
With 174 currently listed for sale and an average price of $29,749 CAD, 33.9% of 2026 Toyota Corolla listings on CarGurus are rated as good or great deals.
Favourably reviewed: Owners rated the 2026 Toyota Corolla 5 / 5 stars.
Why it stands out
The 2026 Toyota Corolla stands out because it combines the Corolla nameplate’s long-running reputation for practicality with a much broader model range than earlier versions. It is available as a sedan or hatchback, and the lineup also includes the Corolla Hybrid and the GR Corolla. Toyota gives the car a sharper look than many people expect from a Corolla, with arrow-shaped headlamps, balanced proportions, and sculpted sides helping it feel more distinctive than merely sensible.
For buyers, the appeal is in how much choice and useful equipment the 2026 Toyota Corolla offers. Most versions use a 2.0-litre engine, while the hybrid pairs a 1.8-litre four-cylinder engine with an electric motor and a CVT. Fuel economy is a highlight, with the hybrid rated as low as 4.5 L/100 km combined, and the GR Corolla brings a turbocharged 1.6-litre three-cylinder engine with 300 horsepower and 295 lb-ft of torque. Standard equipment on the entry-level sedan includes LED headlights and taillights, a reversing camera, dynamic radar cruise control, lane departure alert, a seven-inch touchscreen and voice recognition, while the 2023 facelift added an eight-inch touchscreen display and wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto support for all models.
The 2026 Toyota Corolla also benefits from a strong reliability reputation and good long-term value. The latest Corolla was top-rated among compact cars in the J.D. Power 2024 U.S. Vehicle Dependability Study, and Toyota ranked second overall in that study. At the same time, it is still very much a Corolla: practical, easy to live with, and built around low running costs rather than excitement. That balance is exactly what will appeal to many used-car buyers, even if some versions remain fairly bland and the engine choice is limited in parts of the range.

Is the 2026 Toyota Corolla a good car?
Yes — the 2026 Toyota Corolla is a good car if you want a practical, dependable daily driver with a broader range of body styles and trims than earlier Corollas. It earns a 5/5 user rating, and the overview points to low running costs, strong reliability, and easy day-to-day use. You also get a sedan or hatchback, plus the Corolla Hybrid and GR Corolla, so the lineup can suit very different needs. The market signal is also decent, with 29.3% of listings marked as good or great deals.
Is the 2026 Toyota Corolla reliable?
Owners rate it 5/5, a strong signal of long-term satisfaction.
The overview describes the Corolla as built around strong reliability and low running costs, which is exactly the kind of profile many used-car shoppers want for long-term ownership. For used buyers, the main risk is less about the Corolla’s core durability and more about choosing the right version and condition, since some trims are simpler than others.
Is now a good time to buy a used 2026 Toyota Corolla?
This looks like a moderate, selective buyer’s market, so you should shop carefully and compare listings.
- Deal availability: 29.3% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
- Inventory: There are 167 listings available.
Should I buy a 2026 Toyota Corolla or consider a different year?
If you're weighing the 2026 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:
Choose the 2026 if:
- 29.3% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
- Owners rate it 5/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.
Consider the 2025 if:
- It offers a broad range of choices, including sedan or hatchback body styles and gas or hybrid powertrains.
The bottom line: The 2026 is the better pick if you want the newest version of the Corolla formula with strong owner approval and a healthy share of good deals. If you are more price-sensitive, the 2025 is worth a look because it delivers much of the same practical appeal and variety.
